Default Figured out why wow is so popular

I can very strongly say after playing every p2p mmo but eve and planetside, that iv'e figured out why wow is so popular.

    Simplicity

    Why simplicity?
Look at All the MMO's that have come out since 2008 you need a up to date computer to play it.Most people i know have a Old Dell from the dude im getting a dell commercial.Which runs wow fine.
Then we have newer games which like for a person that does absolutely no fancy stuf on your computer (talking a P4 HT with no AGP or PCI-E slot here) they will make your computer explode...

Also the game play is for lack of a better term "Jack of all trades" good at all master of none. PvP is good if you just play for the occasional break in leveling.PvE is pve lol not like grind alot(Aion) or do Quests till your Eyes bleed(Lotro)Raiding is fun on a casual basis,And the crafting isn't mega time consuming(Aion)being Being ganked (asherons call and aion <..>)

Basically its your ultimate Pick up and Play MMO your old grandma can play it, without being super confused.

Dont get me wrong if you past a Casual Gamer like the guys that delete thier Character on youtube no clue why or the dudes on CODMW2 who have prestige rank 10 which is like damn .... its probably gonna get kinda dry and boring after a while.

Just so you know i play Age of Conan and other shooters and my Mother and sister play world of warcraft like a relaxed basis they just hit 80 after 5 months .This is no way shape or form a fanboy post cuz i like pretty much every(P2P) mmo ive ever played , just a opinion.

You're six years late, bro. It's pretty obvious that WoW is a simplistic MMO, but it's decent, I don't see why people bash it. I don't play it that often, but when I do, I enjoy the experience.

Though, you are correct. It's high time for a real new forerunner MMO; EQ1 to WoW was 5 years, and it's been 6 years since. We're overdue for a revolutionarily wonderful new MMO, but with Cataclysm coming out, it looks like WoW will be MASSIVE for at least another couple years, and during that time Blizzard'll corner every ounce of the PC market it doesn't already have between Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2...

But we can still hope. Most companies either try something too big, and it fails.. don't give enough credit to things that COULD have been great (lol Vanguard).. or just end up trying to clone WoW and don't get anywhere. Surely someone, somewhere is working on something simple enough for mass appeal, but new and fresh enough to actually get people AWAY from WoW.

    Well.. maybe.

I'm hoping The Old Republic MMORPG being made fits that category.

I want to know the answer to this if you find it tell me! My guess is that they either shit themselves when they see it is p2p or they get upset that the game they play which is most likely a f2p(with cash shop) is not as popular as WoW.

the thing that kills WOW for me is the way people treat it.
it's not as good as people say it is, there are alot better out there.

i dont see where every one finds these posts about how amazing the game is.. pretty much everything i read about wow has to do with it sucking then people saying people over hype it. eh ill still stand by what i think makes wow popular and that is the hate it gets, anywhere you even mention wow you have 50 people attacking each other over how bad of a game it is

The game's community blows unless you're trying to hook up with gamer ****s, because there are loads of them.

WoW's popularity is actually scary, all my mates have heard of WoW yet none of them even know what an mmorpg is

I agree with you. You see these new games with revolutionary features yet they always fail.

not to me personally i just love how customizable it is. all the addons change the skin, the ques help, the action bars, cooldowns. i just love it. the downside to it is that they focused on PVE when they made it, so all the classes are balance pve wise, but pvp.... nah

Didn't read after simplicity, and I didn't need too. It's fairly obvious that the game is simple, hell my little brother's garbage can run it. Not to mention the fact that the gameplay is simple enough to be overrun by 12 year olds. Long story short, to sell a good game, just make it so that even the idiots at Blizzard can play it.
