Listen up, everyone.

Depending on where you live, hot showers are extremely bad for you. You know when your skin gets really red? Yeah, bursted skin capillaries. And it also opens your pores. Some might think thats a good thing. It is until you realise all that chlorine and chemicals thats your shower gets from the public water supply is sinking deep into your skin causing it to dry out and damage it.

And that steam that just fills up the room? Thats the result of all those chemcials from the water mixing with other chemicals that then get deep into your lungs and circulatory system due to no natural filters in your body for it. Unfiltered cigarettes, anyone?

The only valid and logical reason to ever take a hot bath/shower is if you almost drowned in a freezing river/ocean and need to get your body temperature up FAST. Wanna know how the Navy SEALS handle cold water? They're used to it. You can get used to it too, make the switch for better health. If you are really interested on this subject use google and do your own research. Try searching for cold showers being bad, you'll find nothing. Then try hot showers and see the mixed reviews.

The water coming from your shower is filtered at least ten times before hitting your body, there is very little chemicals in it. In fact, the water coming out of your showerhead is essentially your drinking water because it all comes from the same source. So by your logic, everyone would be dead by now.

And your body has a natural filter system for airborne toxins, they're called bronchi. Molecules too big to fit into the bronchial tubes that lead to the areoli get stuck, and that's what causes you to cough. Anything that does get past that ultimately enters your bloodstream and can have very adverse side-effects that are usually immediate.

And, uh:

Do you have any idea what a capillary even is? They're located under the epidermis, so it's impossible for water to even hit them. And heat is sensed by the corpuscles in the epidermal layer, so if anything, that's what is causing your skin to turn red.

I switched to cold and it sucked at first but I don't really regret it.

Ever since my gf broke up with me, I've been taking showers to keep my mind off things. I noticed lately though that I've been taking 2+ showers a day now, just to keep warm. I take a clean shower earlier in the morning, and the rest are just to keep warm.

Its not like its cold in here, but I feel cold, kind of like an absence, you know? Anyways, is it bad for my skin or hair to take that many showers? I've taken 3 today, and I'm urging for another one...

i take ike 3+ showers a day .. like 1 in the morning 1 after work then 1 more after sport and then 1 more in the evening ... and i take even more showers on work days after work and at work ... when iam at my cycling club i shower after training ... :/

While most of what solitron said was incorrect, showerheads can harbor Mycobacterium which can infect the respiratory system through inhalation of the steam or mist after hot showers, and cause a plethora of problems, all the while being extremely difficult to both diagnose and treat.

True enough, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as bad as what Mycobacterium can do to you on regular circumstances. You might get sick, but you won't get Tuberculosis from taking a hot shower.
