Hot showers are already bad for you, 3 a day is insane.
I switched to cold and it sucked at first but I don't really regret it.
Not to mention you would save a shit load on your electric bill.

Electric?
And damn, I take REALLY hot showers, and I take them long enough to the point the hot water stops coming out. Why are they bad for me?
Reputation: 134Yeah you have to use electricity to heat up the water lol.
My electric bills were crazy high (like almost a thousand) and I only used to take one shower a day, albeit a really hot one.
And it's bad for you because it strips your skin of it's natural oils and dries it out.
Even if you moisturize 2 hot showers that last until the hot water runs out is gonna be too much.
Reputation: 24If he has a hot water heater, which I'm assuming he does since he takes hot showers, then it takes very little electricity. The heater is running all the time anyways, so why not get use out of it?
I'd wager a guess and say it was definitely something else that was affecting your electricity bill.
Also, taking hot showers may dry out your skin, but only temporarily. In your epidermis, there are tiny little glands located near your hair follicles (in your skin and on your head) called sebaceous glands that produce oils and sweat naturally. In layman's terms, skin make oil.
So there really shouldn't be any long-term effects to taking multiple hot showers a day. But you never know, anything can give you cancer nowadays. >_>
Reputation: 118I take 1 shower a day (and forget to even take a shower sometimes) when going to bed.
And once or twice every week I take a bath. I hate showers seriously, and the only one who complains to me about hygiene is my mom, but then again she's my mom, not like I don't brush my teeth like 3 times a day, floss, and take care of my hair properly. >_>
Also showers dry out your skin, on top of that if you're taking 3 a day and they're hot showers your electric bill is probably bigger. You gotta get heat from somewhere yknow.
The only negative health affects I've heard that are related to over-showering is dry skin. By in my opinion, you should try to find a different way to cope regardless.
I completely understand. Yeah at one point in my last breakup I was taking numerous showers a day. Even when there wasn't any hot water left, i'd be standing in there with like freezing cold water. Well It is really bad for your skin, it should dry it out. You should stop. Truthfully, if you want to feel better as much as it sounds like it won't work. Make a little private blog, like a xanga or something. Then blog in it your feelings, but make it private so no one will ever be able to read it. It'll feel like it's out there for them to read but in reality it's not and it gets a lot of your chest. For any problem you should blog there. I think i'll make a new blog again. The key here is family, your family will be the one who's there for you. I spent countless nights in a row at my auntie's house.

or you can just be a gamer...or listen to hard music...or go to a strip club...or get high...or get drunk...or...err...![]()
Sounds like you have some mild depression. You need to do something awesome to snap out of it, or get some meds.
I shower two times a day....all the time. What is so bad with that? I just hate when I feel greasy...
I shower after dinner, and before bed. I don't take HOT showers like the OP said, but hey... I enjoy my warmth.
I believe someone already said it drys skin, but thats all I actually know. If I were you, I'd go hang with your friends, helps a bit.

At least you shower though, I know people who can go an entire week without.
try ********** instead.
Listen up, everyone.
Depending on where you live, hot showers are extremely bad for you. You know when your skin gets really red? Yeah, bursted skin capillaries. And it also opens your pores. Some might think thats a good thing. It is until you realise all that chlorine and chemicals thats your shower gets from the public water supply is sinking deep into your skin causing it to dry out and damage it.
And that steam that just fills up the room? Thats the result of all those chemcials from the water mixing with other chemicals that then get deep into your lungs and circulatory system due to no natural filters in your body for it. Unfiltered cigarettes, anyone?
The only valid and logical reason to ever take a hot bath/shower is if you almost drowned in a freezing river/ocean and need to get your body temperature up FAST. Wanna know how the Navy SEALS handle cold water? They're used to it. You can get used to it too, make the switch for better health. If you are really interested on this subject use google and do your own research. Try searching for cold showers being bad, you'll find nothing. Then try hot showers and see the mixed reviews.
Hope you find this helpful.
Reputation: 677Bullshit; If you don't acclimate and jump into really cold water without any preparation, your respiratory system is going to collaps and you can die from the shock.
If you abuse your body, your overall tolerance level to cold will deteriorate.
Why shower hot?
Sweat doesn't come of in cold water...

The water coming from your shower is filtered at least ten times before hitting your body, there is very little chemicals in it. In fact, the water coming out of your showerhead is essentially your drinking water because it all comes from the same source. So by your logic, everyone would be dead by now.
And your body has a natural filter system for airborne toxins, they're called bronchi. Molecules too big to fit into the bronchial tubes that lead to the areoli get stuck, and that's what causes you to cough. Anything that does get past that ultimately enters your bloodstream and can have very adverse side-effects that are usually immediate.
And, uh:
Do you have any idea what a capillary even is? They're located under the epidermis, so it's impossible for water to even hit them. And heat is sensed by the corpuscles in the epidermal layer, so if anything, that's what is causing your skin to turn red.bursted skin capillaries
