Don't see a reason to attack people but.....

The 3 vids you posted besides a few parts all sound like similar material that Joey plays.

The 2nd vid....I guess its cool if you can play the same stuff over and over....with speed

The 3rd vid...besides the jungle sounding stuff, sounds like Joey.

Your not trying hard enough Norrin.

That last video is an 8 minute demonstration of almost every drum style ever, performed by a man at least twice Joey's age, maybe even more, without even breaking a sweat.

Even if Joey COULD play everything in those videos, he never could have created it. People play Hendrix, could they have wrote Voodoo Chile? No.

    A) Could any of those drummers play at the speed of Joey?

B ) So if Joey was twice as old as he is now he could do a 8 minute demonstration of almost every drum style ever?

C)If you play something enough long enough your body becomes adjusted to it, so not breaking a sweat means nothing.

    D) You cant compare "People" to anyone like that....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH YES ALL THOSE DRUMMERS CAN PLAY AS FAST AS JOEY!
Most of the drummers posted in this thread are far better and much faster than Joey Jordison!

I hate it when people think they know music because they listen to Slipknot.

Thing is, Joey ain't the best drummer. He's impressive and can keep a rhythm but speed isn't the key to a good drummer, just timing and precision and keeping it full of taste even if it isn't played at 10000000000000000000bpm. He pretty much is an Extreme Metal drummer (though his band might not be, discussion for another thread maybe) but in all my years of listening to Slipknot in my younger days I've never heard him do a blast-beat fast as fast as he hits drums

A: Uhh...yes? You do realise that Joey isn't really THAT fast, right? He uses triggers to make himself seem faster also. Lots of metal drummers do.

B: No, because he isn't that well versed in drumming. He plays metal and rock. No offense, but there's a reason he's in Slipknot. I like Slipknot, but there's a reason he's in that band and not Dream Theater or Rush. He simply couldn't be. He writes very simple music and plays it quite fast.

C: It does, especially when you're an older man. Lots of young drummers play like they're gonna have a heart attack and don't produce half as much musical presense as Terry Bozzio, Neil Peart or Brann Dailor.

It's all about technique. If you have great technique, you don't even have to try so hard.

Joey Jordison isn't regarded as one of the best drummers ever, on a technical level, by ANYONE besides those who either love Slipknot and/or know nothing of drumming.

That's because he isn't one of the best.

What more do you need explained?

Oh don't be rude, it's pretty clear you aren't a drummer if you can't even tell the difference between those 3 drummers.

    1. "You're".

    2. You're wrong.

Every single one of those drummers has technical ability far beyond the wildest dreams of Joey Jordison. If you knew anything of drumming, drummers, drum history or anything else, you'd recognise this. It's one of those things that you'll just never understand unless you have the knowledge.

You can't explain to someone why you think Slayer is good if all they're gonna say is: "It's just noise.". Same with you and drumming. If all you know is what you hear on a base level, you'll never know.

Joey is a very good drummer, but essentially what he does is speed. He plays easy stuff at impressive speeds.

That last video is an 8 minute demonstration of almost every drum style ever, performed by a man at least twice Joey's age, maybe even more, without even breaking a sweat.

He's nowhere close to the sheer technique of Buddy Rich, Neil Peart or Terry Bozzio.

Terry Bozzio is regarded by drummers as the best technical drummer alive. He has entire limb independence and he is pretty much the only drummer alive to ever master The Black Page.

Joey Jordison is just a good metal drummer. He's not even the best metal drummer, and metal drummers aren't the best drummers. Purely metal drummers I mean. You have to remember, it's not about what you can play; it's what you can create.

Even if Joey COULD play everything in those videos, he never could have created it. People play Hendrix, could they have wrote Voodoo Chile? No.

Well yeah, Jazz is based on improvisation, where as to metal you're writing down your music more and making it more structured, so no argument there.
