some help for purchasing a pc

ok so im good with how to use a comp and whatnot but when it comes down to specs and whatnot im still sort of newbie at it.my girlfriends mom asked me the other day she needs a comp that can run the sims 3 and everything she downloads for it...and wants me to find her one since out of her family and whatnot im the smartest comp tech nerd guy they have.

apparently her mom in big into all the sims games but said they screw up once she downloads crap (says everything works but slightly laggy then she will download something and it screws up...i mentioned it could be a virus or malware/adware but i cannot go over and look at it myself due to issues i wont get into here).so finding her a good comp that can run the sims 3 and all that crap easily will get her mom on good terms with me and was wondering if somebody could maybe find me a decent speced pc.she said cost doesnt matter but im thinkin maybe anywhere from $500-$1000 for the computer itself (no ordering parts or anything cause i cant put together computers).any help would be much appreciated.

yeah ive been lookin at newegg but im not too good with choosing gfx cards...i got most of the specs down that are required but i still have issues learning good gaming gfx cards.was hoping for maybe like a push in the right direction with those and whatnot.

I don't think the sims 3 is a particularly graphics intensive game. You'd be fine with any of the Geforce 2xx series cards, or ATI 4xxx series. Just get her a nice dual core system with a dedicated graphics card and you should be ok. On top of that get her a 24" screen and she'll be happy.

this wins if you're willing to buy a refurbished computer, there might be better deals though i haven't looked (wins between computers on newegg though)

I'd pick the refurb, I'm not just saying it cause I picked it. I mean it's refurbed! It's been double checked TWICE, once for the original time and the second to get it back for sale. If I could pick refurb for all my parts, I'd do it, except for HDD and RAM, since they're harder to refurb..

yeah sadly im smart with what to do when their turned on...not building them or anything yet (going to go to college for that).
