So how did this game turn out? I know it was hyped a lot but I never really heard how good it actually was. I am thinking of buying the complete pack for my birthday and I just want to know how it is beforehand.

I followed the development of the game for years, what it turned out to be, was not what it should have been... From "Designing multiple parts that affect gameplay depending on where they are" became "This part gives +5 health!"

Though yes, I agree, the development model of what the game was going to be compared to what it actually IS is a complete travesty, but that's not to say it isn't an acceptable game still. It's worth playing. But I would definitely download it. Also the horrible security system on the retail version of the game is actually more detrimental to your system than the ease of the pirated one. . .

I agree, It used to look amazing, but I believe EA or somebody had them redo it into a childish piece of crud.

It's still a pretty amusing game, but for those who knew what It should have been it's trash.

Its complete trash, they made it seem all OMG SCIENCE. It seemed awesome, complex, and new.

Then they dumbed it down for the casual market.

I was given a copy of Spore, however, because the person already played the game and used the key, I can't play the multiplayer aspect of it unless I give EA what amounts to the cost of a new game altogether to get a new key for the game.

Same. I loved the RPG aspect of it then the game became more and more blah... Once space hit, I turned it off and uninstalled it...

If you look at the dev videos from E3 and stuff, you see that it really was supposed to be a good game, but then EA dumbed it down so it would be out sooner, i swear, everything EA touches turns to crap.
