I like in a video game seeing character development like in a movie except that instead, you can to influence how you change.
As Yahtzee said, if it's just a choice between God or Satan, then it's not a game of moral choices.
moral choices are pointless in games, you either a) sleep with the hot alien chick
or b) tell her to sit and spin.
or c) Have sex with the freaky looking alien dude who hate's humans but wants you to bone him.
or d) play arcanum and have sex with a donkey.
most choices like in KOTOR, are just filler to the end, in the end, what you chose or what you did, doesn't really change much.you'll still be the bad guy at the end of the first game. even though the story says it was a woman.
Reputation: 292I don't really care for choice. I like games that are more like a movie experience.
Although it usually depends on the genre too.
There's some mysterious water sitting in glass pail right in front of you...
A.) Drink the mysterious water in risk of dying, but gain 30+ STR.
B.) Leave it alone.

Well, I guess its my lucky day
*takes a zip and instantly dies* FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Well, it depends the genre of game
annnnnnd if it has multiple endings according to the choices
Though I love some reactions to some choices, wolfie is right and most games go for it as a filler. (sadly)
Depends how deep the moral choices you make really are.
Reputation: 292Indigo Prophecy is a good game that implements choice and shows the changes based on that choice even if it is small.
It's cool committing a crime then playing as the detective and watching how it all unfolds.
if moral choices in gaming are related to; killing a family, stealing their s****s and plates, selling them to a merchant, then killing the merchant and stealing the s****s and plates all over again.... then yeah its a good idea. but i dont see why it is anything new. afterall, morality is highly subjective.
Lothia, he spoke of it in his Bioshock review.
This. It allows you to become more immersed into the story rather then "COMON MOVE ON WITH THE KILLING".
At the moment im playing Dragon Age: Origins and it has many moral choices within the game. It doesn't exactly change the ending entirely but choosing something such as sacrificing people in order to strengthen yourself may cause party members to dispise you or love you. Other choices also effect how some armies will react to you yada yada.
So yeah i love games with moral choices.
Reputation: 482Eh, Devil Summoner 2 is filled with a bunch of moral choices, but seeing as most folk just tended to manipulate the answers to get all the case files, it didn't have much impact on the actual gameplay.
A lot of games, especially RPG's, have had scenario systems based on various dialogue choices or actions during battles for replay value. I don't really care for the idea honestly since most of the time I want to just take the path that opens up the endgame or is most challenging.
I'd rather they focus on telling a story from different points of view, like they did with Odin Sphere, while letting you play an entirely new character. I always preferred stories told in third-person omniscient.
Reputation: 11The only MMO I have ever played that had true moral choices is Tabula Rasa, which is unfortunately shut down now. An no, it was not black and white choices between good and bad, they were true moral choices. There was only a few quests like this though.
