...and that's not a good enough percentage for you, coming from N.A.S.A.?
You're saying you let things remain open even if every possible chance points to the opposite?
I'm gonna be honest, that's ridiculous. If the opposite percentage is negligible, then it's illogical and rather silly to go with anything else. So don't come in here acting like we're the lost cause for going with N.A.S.A. instead of giving undue and outlandish precedent to a negligible percentage.
You're suggesting that unless something happens or it doesn't, it's always possible. That's just...beyond insane.
It is time to pay for the sins you have commited.
My lord confirmed the end will come and indeed it shall be 2012; of course I will be spared.
Reputation: 1151With that attitude, anything, anywhere, can happen any time. I partially agree with that, but its irrelevant to what I'm posting.
So, following that theory, the world could end tomorrow just the same as it could in 2012. Live for now, maaaaan.
Edit: Norrin beat me to that, and said it a lot more sciencey. Ah well, same idea.
Im saying it CAN happen but is like SUPER VERY BLAH BLAH unlikely. So we really have no need to worry about it or care
Shoot, the chances of a feather coming through my window and imapling me in the hid is possible but im not going crazy over it
I saw something about this on a show a while back from what I can remember it's not slated to happen for quite some time all of us will be long dead when it occurs. Besides most of this dooms day life will end soon mumbo jumbo is just a way to scare people silly. Next thing you know people will claim Jesus is coming back in 2012.
Reputation: 132Oh gosh, not this shit again... >_> Seriously, how ******ed people must be to believe in this bull crap.
Reputation: 372They still pull that magical... I mean magnetical, pole reversal stuff?
I just hope it doesn't happen the day before tomorrow like in the movie, because that would be... like... today.

You asked me to quote where you said those things, right? They were QUESTIONS. I never said you said them, I ASKED if they were your stances. I then asked you if I have to explain what a question mark means, AGAIN, because you obviously ignored them.
It was a jocular comment aimed at your penchant for not properly reading my posts.
Reputation: 63Someone should get a statistic posted about how many times scientists claimed something was impossible only to be proven wrong as your average person
I don't believe the world will end in 2012, but I wouldn't go as far as claiming that x or x is impossible because history told me better
After all, the grounds in which our life style sits nowadays are filled with "it can't be done" and "it'll never happen" past claims.
Poles shift every 100k years or so. Only means that compasses will point the wrong way. Day length was only decreased by 1.26 millionths of a second per year.

Reputation: 63Ridiculous is that you try and dismiss it by giving the way pre-age of industrial revolution rhetoric
A lot of what "erupted" during those years was uncredited as possible until made into a reality
So, considering it as ridiculous as you may, it's still factual and I base my opinion on that.
Reputation: 67Not to mention we have 2 more years to wait and see what happens
However completely dismissing it just because we have data 2 years early?
Im sorry but you cant really say whats going to happen in 2 years
It's quite obvious that it's impossible to predict what's going to happen 2 years from now. Even with statistics, there's no such thing as 100% certainty when it comes to the future. The issue isn't on the probability of the event happening, but on how to assess the possible risk.
For example: if the probability of a meteor striking earth on 2012 is around 0.001% what should be done? Should a lot of resources be put into a program to avoid such an event, or should we see it as a unlikely event and focus on other more probable issues? The probability is still there, it could happen.
Of course, this is completely different from making stuff up and providing no data at all.
Reputation: 95I believe that one day the world will come to and end. Everything that has a beginning has an end.
No one knows for sure if it is 2012 though so I do not believe this.
There is a 0.001% chance if you step outside, a piece of space debris will fly out of the sky and hit you in the face, you'd better stay indoors today!
Oh wait, theres a 0.001% chance you'll trip on your way back inside your house and get a concussion, better crawl on the floor!
Look out for that 0.001% chance of getting a lethal spider bite and dieing while you're crawling around on that dirty floor!!
I think you get the point.
And whats WORSE is the whole 2012 conspiracy has been taken apart, shown WHY and HOW it became a conspiracy in the first place, and how it in reality signifies nothing but the end of a calendar and where a new one starts.
You wonder why NASA doesn't sound like they really care about their FAQ response? Because they know it's completely ridiculous and probably don't want to give the idea more credit than it deserves.
BUT OH WAIT, the OP is quoting a random creditless youtube video and is tossing around the words "geologist scientist NASA omg omg!!!", there must be like, so much truth to what he's saying!
But no, don't listen to reason. Every large, concrete idea just HAS to be completely false for strange, underground and completely idiotic reason. HEY GUISE OUR GOVERNMENT SENT A MISSLE INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER SO THEY COULD MINE FOR OIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST THIS DOCUMENTARY SAID SO!
I care less than it sounds like I do, I'm just killing time before work.![]()
