They put up the beta site for FFXIV, finally. Did anyone get accepted into the beta? I didn't. T.T

Maybe invites haven't gone out yet?
They didn't even e-mail me of the new website editions.

No I'm not joking.
Invites started getting sent out a little over a week ago. The beta site went live on the 11th.
Reputation: 10I really hope for square enix they start to follow heavily the mmo standards in terms of combats because ffxi has disappointed me a lot. double click on target (and be precise!), then select in menu is really what detracted me. if it aint mouse click for attack its fail.
the japanese pc games are so behind in terms of ergonomy..
Reputation: 41ff11 combat was fine and there is no "mmorpg-standart" for combat. Of course there is a combat system that many mmorpgs use but i still think that the "normal" standart system is ok and they can add many new features too.I really hope for square enix they start to follow heavily the mmo standards in terms of combats because ffxi has disappointed me a lot. double click on target (and be precise!), then select in menu is really what detracted me. if it aint mouse click for attack its fail.

Think about it..many games with the same combat system = boring
We need something new or something old with some new updates

Reputation: 10novelty in term of combat system is not a problem to me. see for example age of conan. the user swing his sword using keyboard keys, and it fast to adapt to it.
but a system that oblige you to navigate menus to do things slow heavily the pace of the game. I don't want to spend 5 minutes killing a squirrel, 4 minutes of which involve clicking menus, and i dont mention locked drops that force in another 5 minutes to unlock the chest. this kind of system detracts the combat aspect of the game, and thats the most important in mmorpgs.
I suspect they wanted to stick to menus because of previous releases on consoles, where ff players mind have been formatted in using menus over menus over menus...
some japanese pc games have been plagued which such widespread mmo standard ignorance, and it is really a shame square enix couldnt adapt to its worldwide gamers.
obviously i hope ffxiv departs drastically for this menu browsing type of combat.
well if they want me to buy theirs.
I hope someone in their beta can give insights on that matter (without too many details to respect nda)
Reputation: 30age of conan combat was stupid. your skills were password protected. pvp looked ridiculous as everyone would be swinging in the air before charging in to hit.
Reputation: 41it was like dancing xDage of conan combat was stupid. your skills were password protected. that's all.

Cool. Even tho I will never get into the beta, this makes it 1 step closer to the game actually being released :P.
