Yeah its pretty confusing...

Since she throws the cookies (and her clothes) on the ground it seems like she was trying to trick them into getting her into the treehouse. I have no idea why she would get naked though.

But if they saw the number of cookies she was carrying, surely they would suspect a ruse when they weight of the box is equal to "like a billion cookies", which is clearly not the number of cookies that the woman was carrying.

I refuse to believe that these kids are so dense.

Good point. I dunno, maybe they think she quickly got a bunch more cookies or maybe they think the cookies were made with ingredients as dense as lead.
