    Default Windows theme

enough of downloading theme's.I have photoshop talent I need to put to use on my desktop, someone tell me how to do this. I searched all over the internet for a "how to". But all I got were downloads for theme's and programs that cost money.

I'm a programmer, so if someone else can make a theme so can I. I just need to know where to look.

I know where the theme's are stored in the windows folder.....just don't know how to make one.

you misunderstand me, I don't want to download a theme, I want to create my own, with my own images.

I have found several programs that do this for you, stylexp, litestep, and talisman. litestep and talisman even get rid of the explorer shell for you and install a new one.

    Might try those out.

SkinStudio is the only one I can suggest, it's $19.99 but there is a free trial.

There is currently no method out there as you ask.
You will need to get theme builder programs and use those, or learn on your own.

no you misunderstand.....if a program can do it, then a human can do it.....without the help of a program......

All those builder programs do is make the script for you and place it in the right directories. They are kinda like the "frontpage" of theme's. Just alot of people know html, most people don't know the script for this....i'm even having a hard time understanding it. Microsoft did'nt make it real self explanatory.

In that case, you would really just have to reprogram windows explorer.

    It's not worth the hassle.

lol you don't have to reprogram it......all the theme resources arein a folder called c:/windows/resources. All they are is a bunch of dll's

But you are right, i tried some simple things and they take forever, so i'm just going to get a ........legal  .... copy of somethign like style builder.

But thanks to the post who told me how to use unsigned microsoft theme's. That is proving to be invaluable.
