It's a massive swipe to creativity and will only show how damaging it is in years to come.
That's not to say remakes can't be good.
My concern is less with remakes and more with how shitty a lot of original movies are.

Reputation: 22bad.. if its not broken DONT TOUCH IT!..
I really hate how these directors or promoters try to hype up these movies and give the impression "OMG A NEW ROCKY MOVIE.. I HAVENT WATCH ROCKY IN 30 YEARS.. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST MOVIE EVER"
and than they have the odasity to call it "rocky balboa" not "rocky 6" ..noo nooo... ****ing morons.. CALL IT ROCKY 6!!
Rocky Balboa is a sequel, not a remake. Something like The Departed is a remake (of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs), but I think that's a more understandable remake (adapting a film for a different geographical audience).
A true "hey lets just do this movie again" remake would be something like Ocean's Eleven.
I think geographical remakes are worse.
If you can't make the Herculean effort required to watch a movie with subtitles or dubbing, then don't watch it. Why do millions need to be spent to s****feed people? Plus, most remakes of Asian movies, for example, turn out worse.
