No, hes going to sleep because hes drinking an "anti-energy drink" which is full of melatonin.

I mean, I guess you could just buy the supplements, but why do that when you can use this as a loose reference to abusing cough syrup with some opiates in it?

Ya see, lean is another word for "purple drank" which is a recreational drug used in the south of the USA (not so much up north.)

Its perscription cough syrup with codeine and promethazine...to make it taste tolerable, people put in sprite and jolly ranchers and whatever else you want to use to make drinking cough syrup recreationally palatable.

IDK if you're familiar with Pimp C, but him and a bunch of other popular hip-hop artists from the south all OD'd on it and died...

So, this company is obviously cashing in on the whole lean thing. The drug makes you fall asleep (the promethazine) and the codeine makes you numb (its an opiate). It "slows stuff down" hence the stuff on the can.

I'm not sure if that specific drink includes any valerian root, which is a benzo (aka xanax) alternative or not...seems dangerous to me, because people CAN have allergic reactions to the valerian root. But I've heard the companies were using that. In combination with the melatonin in the drink, its just gonna put you to sleep though. *shrug*

Not to mention that velarian root has a potential for minor addiction and isn't really any fun at all unless used in heroic doses (which is NOT good for you).

Man, don't buy that stuff at $4 a can. Go to the store and get a bottle of melatonin tabs and grind one into a grape soda when you feel like you need to.

*facepalm* He must drink a LOT of it then...because AFAIK codeine is the weakest of all opiates, and it'd take a lot of it each day to be feeling any withdrawals from it
