you said "hes playing games for the wrong reason" I don't see how anyone plays a game for a wrong reason, so there isn't any point.
As for your post, comparing PCS to collectibles is highly irrelevant, due to the fact you will be using your "collectible" causing wear and tear. who buys a PC just to have it collect dust? Pointless, try using a different approach if you wan't people to have a better comprehension than said post.
Also there is nothing in this world that keeps its value as if it were day one of the purchase, so there really isnt any point in your post, other than a possible rant of someone having a better pc than you.
It may not be visually beautiful, but emulators are a great way to test out sometimes..
PS2 Emulators
Wii Emulator actually looks decent on some games.

I see a person who possibly cannot afford a high end machine.
From your original post, you saidHe spent his money on a MACHINE to play games, and to play games, you need a good rig if you want the full enjoyment out of the game. In a sense, its like movies vs p2p mmos. Would you pay 15$ a month to play a game all month, when ever you want, or just to see 1 movie that you can just rent a few months later for about 5$."Good to know you spent the money on a machine, not for the experiences to be had, but because it's a good machine."
Its all about preferences bro.
Also, you mentioned "for the experiences to be had", isnt that the whole point of buying a videocard? that kinda defeats the purpose of your post, if he didnt care about graphics or eyecandy, he wouldn't have made this thread specifically for high end games.
AS I said, no computer is a "collectible" and i question your intelligence for saying this. A collectible is something thats collected and stored, never used, else its value will be decreased, why would someone collect a PC? You can just swap parts and stay on the line, and most upgrades are only needed probably every 2 or 3 years, so yeah there isnt a big line and he would have made his money back in the time hes used his PC.Except you probably don't know you bought this machine as a collectable, and your collectable will depreciate in value progressively, until it's worth peanuts.
it will never be worth peanuts, look at the old 7900 series videocards, for what ever reason, people still sell and use these, and they get good fps in games for the most part, theyre happy, even though the card is stupid old and outdated.
Your post is pointless, and it only makes you seem like a hater.
This whole purist hardcore gamer "gameplay above all else" is just ridiculous. Video games are named rightly so because they are visual experiences. Games looking better makes them more immersive, look prettier and to do that you need a stronger computer or else you will experience lag wich detracts from the overall experience. Now, the OP just wants to see how far he can push his machine to make the most of it. He just wants to have a really great looking interactive experience. What's wrong with that?
I think not. He obviously bought a good machine to play games at a higher standards of graphics, not to... 'collect'. Either way, his computer will play the same standard of graphics available to be run as the time he had bought it. It's not about value but the power it contains. I really don't know what ridiculous point you're trying to make.
