    Default High-end Games?

Hi, I don't know if this is in the right section but anyways I was wondering if there are any MMORPGs that run on like Dx10+ I have a really great computer, that could run anything and I would like to know whats a good game MMO/FPS/RPG that works really great and that will push my computer to its limits.

hmmm.. Of course generally if you want the best graphics then 'newest' is what you'll wanna go for, but it's not always the case. Stuff like Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Modern Warfare 2 (EVERYTHING 2) , etc might be good places to start.

As far as MMORPGs in general go, since this is an MMO forum after all, Final Fantasy XIV looks like it's going to have gorgeous graphics, and it's supposedly made with the same engine used to make FFXIII, "Crystal Tools"--of course FFXIII is stunningly beautiful, so even though FFXIV shouldn't be expected to have quite as fast and frantic action, you can rest assured it's going to be really gorgeous. There's already some gameplay footage out around Youtube etc but it's generally not recorded in super high quality.

EverQuest 2 probably takes the cake for 'MMORPG that takes the godliest system to run, much less run well' but that's not so much because of its graphics so much as the fact that it's terribly optimized and has always had all kinds of problems with all kinds of video cards and even general 'video card setups' such as SLI mode. A lot of these have been ironed out and it is a STUNNINGLY gorgeous game but from what I hear people to this day struggle severely to run the game on max settings even on the strongest computers and even though the game was released in 2004...

Don't you mean Vanguard? Vanguard is terribly optimized.

.....wait...lolwut? An 8600 and a decent CPU with 2 GB of RAM can max all of those games out at decent resolutions. (With little to no AA)

So If you really want to push your rig, get Crysis, Metro 2033, Cryostasis.

MMORPGs? I believe Age of Conan has Direct X 10 support.

For games in general; Metro 2033, Crysis, Bad Company 2, and GTA IV.

Maxed-out Crysis would probably be the ultimate test.

Just make sure you have a back-up computer.

I'd like to point out that Bad Company 2 has DX11, so if you have a DX11 card you can really test your computer.

Yep they all look nice, and yeah I have a Dx11 card and I do have BfBC2 great game too :P I just want to know whats a good program that takes screenshots of games, I know fraps does but doesn't it mess up the images? And I saw a thread about using Screenshot Pilot but that one didn't seem to work for me.

Xfire works. I've never had problems with FRAPS screenshots. In a lot of games there is a folder that saves screenshots when you press PrtSc.

I just use Xfire, beats finding a decent image hosting site to upload to.

    Question

So do you guys recommend Xfire or Fraps. I just downloaded fraps and it ain't that bad to be honest, but you said xfire beats having to find a decent uploading site (not the exact words since I am not looking at your post) Does that mean that xfire also uploads it or something? Also EIi whats this about lagsis I can run it maxed out without lag. Also I think I like Metro 2033 than all those other games.

Try GTA IV, it requires a pretty good computer.

Xfire uploads the pictures for you, but you have to have an account.

Yeah I've seen some screenshots of GTA IV on some good computers, looks nice, but I am not really a fan of GTA I mean its a good game, but its not the type that I would like to stick to, I mean graphics aren't everything, but the gameplay isn't all that my style. I mean I did get pretty far in it on my xbox 360 but yeah gta ain't for me and creating an account shouldn't be much of a hassle :P rather than trying to find a good program or going on youtube to find a video of how to get fraps for free, full version anyways.

If you're wanting Youtube videos, FRAPS all the way. As far as I know, Xfire videos can only be upload to the Xfire website.

GTA IV only requires a computer with a good CPU.

The game was made so it relied heavily on the CPU instead of the GPU.

So you need a good quad core but that is just it.

Metro 2033 is the biggest hitter right now, especially if you have a directx 11 card.

Yeah I got a i7 930, Anyways I'll stick to fraps instead, I did find a video for a free fraps, it isn't the lastest but its the closest I could find 3.0.3 and the current one is 3.2.2 but yeah I don't think there would be much of a difference, atleast I hope not . Atm I am playing and loving Metro 2033, graphics are amazing and the gameplay is great. If anyone is looking for a great game I would suggest Metro, I am a personal fan of the type of story line that Metro deals with.

Good to know you spent the money on a machine, not for the experiences to be had, but because it's a good machine.

You're a bit like a action-figure collector, eh? Except you probably don't know you bought this machine as a collectable, and your collectable will depreciate in value progressively, until it's worth peanuts.

Eesh, anybody else find this somewhat a melancholy observation?

You completely missed my point. The fact that the computer depreciates in value is of no real importance. I'm not trying to convince you that this poweful computer is a waste because it's only going to depreciate in value, I'm saying from my point of view, you bought the computer and playing the games for the wrong reasons. Read it again.

We're just on the cliff of technological advances when it comes towards PCs. Albeit his PC value will decrease, but not by a large majority. The average replace values of PCs are every 2 or 3 years. Seeing as we're in the DX 11 era, all he really has to worry about replacing is his graphics card and possibly cpu.

However, 2011 is when AMD will be releasing their GPU/CPU fusion chips, based on 32 NM processors, intel will probably be on 28 or lower Fabs.

Shown by nvidia, with the GTX 400 series, we're getting stronger cards, in smaller, single board designs. as stated, by next year we'll be having gpus on much lower fabs aswell, which means cheaper, more power efficient, and run cooler with better overclockablity.

However, since he is a gamer, the only thing he has to worry about replacing every year or so is just his video card. and now that we're in the dx 11 age, the cards themselves will still hold SOME of their value, so he can just sell it and put the money up to the upgrad.e

no investment in computers are bad investments. its just how you handle it.

I would rather blow 1,000 on a brand new pc that can run every game out there for a year or two.
