    Default PS3 Vs Xbox 360

I'm in a pickle right now...

I already know what these consoles have to offer in games but not so much online.

I hear that the Playstation Network is a tad bit "water down" compared to Xbox live.

This is a concern for me since I want to play online.

    Discuss.

    pc. 10pc's

    edit; fine i'll contribute more

    360 online
    -*****y 11 year olds
-they 'force' you to play with americans as it does not filter.
    -subscription
-very smooth online system (communication, parties, joining n shit)
    -achievement system
    -download system
    -streaming
-good connection? (well mine is pretty ****ed as I have to reset my connection before i can sign into xboxlive but everyone else is fine, asides that no lag)
    -microsoft point shop
-avatar customization (if your a faggy like that)

pc is much better, don't buy a console.

Live is a premium service with premium features. It IS superior to the PSN but that doesn't mean the PSN is shat.

You can have your friends, send/receive msgs, and start a text/video chat, basic stuff. It tells you who signs off/on. It doesn't have the cross-game chat like Live does. You won't be lagging in a game unless it's of your own connection's fault or the host of a lobby. Since servers aren't hosted by Sony, unlike Microsoft, all the games that are enabled with online multiplayer counts on the developers to make good servers. There's the Playstation store where you buy movies, games, add-on content, videos, etc off of. Other than that, the PSN service is a good deal for the price of "free".

Live's service is great, it's everything the PSN has to offer AND more. The whole "you get what you pay for" deal works well here. That $50 a year towards Live is a perfect price.

Oh, for the love of any deity that may exist.

I swear we need a goddamn sticky thread for this topic. I'm genuinely sick of these threads. It's not bad enough that it's a simple decision between two consoles, but with the amount of threads there have been you should know EVERYTHING by now.

I would upgrade my PC but that's later on the year.

    PS3 Games:

    MGS4

    Final Fantasy 13

    Heavy Rain

    Xbox 360:

    Mass Effect 1 and 2

    Bioshock 2

    COD: Modern Warefare

    Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction

I just want to know if i could play these games well on the Playstaion Network.

If not, I'll just get a Xbox 360.

    EDIT: Thank you Jakuza!

Going to be thinking about your post quite a bit now.

    They're basically the same.. Fk.
You don't notice lag in either one.
Even with Lives supposibly amazing servers, you lag in new games, and games with a lot of players like CoD(Surprisingly the PS3's connection was better for CoD, they kept fking up sht on 360 version- it was so annoying).

Either way you're pretty much getting the same games. The chat is helpful on Live - but soon PS3 will have that.
I think PS3 is better because overtime you save more money not playing for live, and fking BluRay.. fk my games. D;!

Like you waste so much money on live that you could of spent on another game, or FOOD when you're bored of the games you got.
I pay my damn internet bill, why I gotta pay a live bill when I'm hardly playing.

I seriously think they should have Live free to connect and play online.. then a Live premium with all the extras.

Don't get Mass Effect - but everyone knows its better on the PC anyways.

-And no I haven't lagged in any of them. I haven't played Splinter Cell, but I doubt I'll lag in that neither on the PSN.

    anyways,

I think the 360 is better as long as you're willing to put up with not quite as good graphics, having to pay (a pretty small amount really) for online, and are willing to put up with the occasional uh, technical problem (in Microsoft's defense, they do ship it back to you super promptly, even here in Canada), and it's not like that happens often or anything. I've only had to send mine back once since I got it ages ago. It simply has better games imo. oh, and the 360 controller is one of the best ever made (well, as long as you don't bother with wireless, those are a pain in the ***)
I think both consoles have ugly muddy textures compared to the PC.

But I can't really blame them becuase they have much weaker hardware.

It's seems like they want to hide anything unsightly by covering it up with blur, fog or rail levels.

You know why they call it an Xbox 360? Because when you first play it you get up, turn 360 degrees, and walk away.

I think all consoles and games should follow the font styles of FFXIII while the game was only okay I absolutely loved the fonts they used for the UI.
Hobosexual you should have thought about that one, they would have to have called it xbox 180 for that to be true. What you said is they just do a 360 and are still looking at it.

That'd be a 180..Cause if you sat down to play the game, you'd be turning around, hence the 180.
If it was a 360, you'd be turning back around to play it again.

OP I think you shouldn't have asked that question on this website seeing as most of them are PC fanatics and wont answer your question.

IMO i would go with PS3 i heard for X-Box 360 you have to pay

7.99 per month if you purchase it monthly (not suggested)
19.99 per 3 months (again not suggested)
    49.99 for 12 months (suggested).

On the other hand for ps3, Online is completely free.

I suggest the ps3 hope this helped.

fair enough IronyTaken, but there are alot of people who don't want to deal with all the annoyances that come with pc gaming, and would rather just be able to be guaranteed to play any game they want to.

besides, last I checked, unless if you're really into fps (exceptions, Left 4 dead and 2, half life sequels), mmos (mm, no I can't think of any exceptions, it's not like you need a great computer for most mmos anyway), or rts gaming (the last rts game I liked was the dawn of war series, which run pretty well on older computers too) (I'm not), there really hasn't been all that much interesting going on on pc lately.

Well everyone is entitled to ask their own question if it is a bit different then others. He specifically asked about the online aspects which isn't as common as asking about dif in games.
From what I hear 79% of those owning a PS3 use the PSN or whatever it is called which is also free. However 74% of those owning a 360 are connected to Xbox live which is $15 a month. They both do a lot, not owning a PS3 I cannot compare them however I personally think it more depends on the games you want and if certain special aspects of each consoles appeal to you.
As well to KH post FFXIII is 360 as well.
Yes, but if the question is always "PS3 or Xbox 360?", then surely it's best to just have a thread stickied. People can read it, gather opinion and ask a question if they need it.

People haven't got the benefit of ALL the previous threads if we keep letting them be made to fade in the end.

Stickying the topic would honestly save so many duplicates.

I meant that I don't think it's worth it to get a high end pc because most of the games you'd play on it wouldn't be very good imo.

good point about most modern console games being fps though. umm, well I don't play those games so I can't comment. that said I think there are enough non-fps games on modern consoles that are good enough to make up for it.
There are many fun new games for the PC.

And if it is also released on the console 90% of the time it is better on the PC unless it is a crappy port that makes it unplayable.

Also my PC probably costs around 400-500 USD (at this time, it cost more when I originally built it) and can play every game out there and most on max settings 1680x1050.

So it's not expensive and if you already have a PC, which just about everyone here does, then you can buy a cheap 100 USD video card and you are set.

I already made a thread showing that the intel gma 950 can play more modern games with some tweaks so even cheap hardware can do it.

It may not be worth it to you to upgrade your pc or build a new one but to many it is worth it.

And also to some it's not worth getting a console.

Well if you do not count games, the only thing XBOX has over the PS3 is Live... Blu-Ray, technically superior controllers, WiFi...

Yeah i would of suggested that till there was that update that got rid of it. Although i do hear that there are ways to get around it. Don't wanna try it though.

If you plan to play with a lot of friends get a 360, it's MUCH easier to play with them on there than a PS3.

360 has a lot of games that i really want to play that are never going to come out for ps3 (although one has in japan but i don't think it's going to come to US)

Although if you want to play the MOST AWESOME GAME OF ALL TIME aka LITTLE BIG PLANET YEAHHHH get a ps3. But really I have a PS3 and im pretty happy for it. Earlier on i was somewhat regreting it cause almost none of my friends had one and that the ps3's game library was lacking.

Although now it's pretty even with the 360 on games and exclusives. Give the ps3 cross game voice chat and a party system and that will be its trump card lol. (That feature means a lot to me )
