    Default Second Life?

You guys always seem pretty brutally honest and opinionated. So what are your thoughts on Second Life? I opted to switch to Linux (Debian Testing to be specific) since I find it entertaining, but I've been MMO-less for a little while now and Second Life seems to be one of the few thriving native Linux MMO's out there.

It's been my understanding though that Second Life is for anti-social creeps. Is this the case? What kind of stuff do you actually do in the game? Is it something I could hop on every so often and just enjoy?

    Thanks for any information guys.

    Mixed feelings.

Good number of decent people, however, there is a population of creeps, douche bags and people with mental problems who have failed in regular society.

I'd say that, it's a good social game, and there are a lot of good people, but, be aware of the fringes.

    Hmm... I see.

What exactly do you do in the game? Is it basically all just meeting people and chatting, or if I wanted to go on for an hour randomly and not speak to anyone, would I still have entertaining stuff to do?

well, you can do pretty much anything. the only thing that limits you is the engine itself. it is pretty outdated and you really cant play a great game with in secondlife, like the fighting games or the rpg games people have made. but there are a few decent ones. the things that works best from what ive learned in secondlife is building and keeping a business going within secondlife. like DJ'ing, designer of various things, coding and just chatting with friends is what i like about secondlife.

then again, ive bean more on the side that creates instead of consumes, so ive done more things like having my own store and designing accessories and avatars. that usually keeps me entertained

That's an incredibly ignorant view on Second Life. It's no different than any other MMORPG. Except that it's social and not hack and slash.

I'd like to point out that Eli almost never says anything positive about well, anything.

On-Topic: Second Life is the largest game ever made. There are literally so many sims *individual land plots* in the game you could NEVER visit every single one possibly in your lifetime. The game is made and mostly maintained by the community. My favorite thing to do is roleplay. Currently I'm the head of the RDA for what will soon be two full non-mainland sims which are based on the movie James Camerons Avatar. It's hard to think what you can't do in the game. Heck even major companies have virtual meetings in SL. There are real college classes you can take in SL that counts as an online college. I mean shit I seriously don't know what I can't do that I would want to do.

Tell you what, list a few things you would want to do. They can be completely random and something you'd never seen in another game. You will most likely be able to do it in SL. I for one can say that if you wanted to ride on Lady Gagas *supposed* manhood throughout Tatooine while being chased by barney riding a motor bike made of George Bush, well by god you can do it.
