Well im not sure if there is a topic about this but then i just want to know what hooks you to gaming, for me i play games because in game i can do magic ^_^ specially elemental magic, when i was a kid i dreamt of using a wind power hehe and that caught me to play flyff hehe my first MMO and now i play something else
yeah mostly to kill time, have fun and feeling good after acomplishing something.
but what gets me hooked? i look at allot of things before i decide to even play a game and to get hooked on. first the graphics gotto be good, not good as in most people understand as High-quality-textures and stuff but good as in textures/objects put to good use to raise the atmosphere of a certain style game.
like i can have all these amazing graphical tree's and water and mindlessly stick them next to eachother in the ground all beeing the same size +flat rivers like most cheap mmo creators do to save time.. or, i could carefully place/resize them to make it look like a real forest or something. hope u get the picture
next thing is gameplay. if i swing a sword at a monster i want it to act as a sword hitting THE MONSTER! i want him to crawl back, fall over, see him confused or enrage and go apeshit on me while blood is gushing out of his body. but sadly.. most games just have a lame attack animation with barely any sign of 'hit' so it feels like ur attacking a ghost.
i could go on for a while but those 2 things is what im really looking at lately. if i see a game that have both these kind of quality's i know i could definitely get addicted :P
age of conan, or the SP game Risen(which seems to be forgotten already lol) do very well on these 2 btw. but still the gameplay can be better.
