So I thought I'd make my first ever topic to ask everyone here a few simple questsions about the Suikoden game series. Simple questions really, and they lack any true meaning behind them, rather than showing how awesome the game is :P.
Have you played Suikoden?
Which was your favorite of the series and why was it your favorite (1-5 Gaiden included, tactics not included it was even more of a failure than 4 *cough*)?
Who was your favorite character in the suikoden series and why did he/she stand above the rest (If you have more than one that is perfectly fine... I mean there is 108 character total to get after all xD)?
Lastly, who was your favorite baddy of the game series?
My answers:
Yes (I made the topic after all.)
Suikoden 2 was my favorite of the game series. To me it had the best storyline of them all. The characters were brilliant, at least most of them. It was the only PS1 game to stick to its roots and not try to push graphics over gameplay, which was a huge issue with most games of its time. The sound track was simply amazing, and was one of if not the best in the history of PS1, being one of the first games to ever go off of a midi format for music. The villains(if you consider Jowy one as well) of Suikoden 2 were thought up quite well, especially Luca Blight, having great backstory, motives, and the best death of a bad guy I have ever seen in my life not being a lame villain that just gets owned by a group of 3+ characters. Took a whole friggin army to take himi down. Anyways... Yeah, Suikoden 2, definitely my favorite.
My favorite character was Flik. His backstory with Odessa, and his level head with honor set above all else set him above most characters of the series, with Shin being a very close second. Heck, the guy even had a cool nickname, Blue Lightning. "I swear on my blade, no harm will come to her" Flik was truly the true warrior of the group, and the best ally that came out of Suikoden 1 and 2.
My favorite bad guy of the Suikoden series was none other than Gizel Godwin. He had the all around best motivation of the villains. His nature was truly crafty, and he was sharp as a tack. He set up events just to see how the unfold and watch schemes simply blossom. With great moments involving him, and the ability to be the biggest pain the arse, he was by far my favorite.
