The Story
Deep in the forests of Dao Island, 6 strangers are destined to meet…they won’t, though. At first they don’t, anyways, but they do later, and wow, when they do they have some adventures! It’s…well, it’s destiny.
Fu! Come back here, you whippersnapper! I’m wise! Old and wise! I’m older than old, and that means you owe me some respect! I’m Elder Wong, and it is my duty to tell you the story of the 6 greatest fighters in the lands. That means your duty is to stay and listen to it, Fu! So put down that chicken wing, and stop inhaling food for a second.
As most tales do, the Tale of Warriors begins with a girl. In this case, the girl is an evil Monster King. So, I suppose not really a girl at all. My mistake. It all begins with the evil Monster King and the honorable Eight Immortals.
The evil Monster King was named "Monster King," which probably predisposed him to his cranky and evil nature. Luckily, the Eight Immortals were very good fighters, and battling together they could keep the Monster King in check.
The Eight Immortals combined all of their powers into a massive Jade Reliquary. With the powers of Jade, they stopped the Monster King’s reign of terror, his years of kidnapping and violence, his capture and enslavement of the previously friendly monsters…what? I didn’t tell that part?
...Oh, you’re right. I didn’t. Well, it’s for another time. Know that there was a great battle, and the Eight Immortals set the Monster King to rest beneath Dao Island. But he slept fitfully, his power seeping into the world in fits and bursts. A snore might send a volcano blazing; a restless tumble, earthquakes. More troublingly, the people of Dao Island forgot the great terror sleeping beneath them, and the Eight Immortals themselves grew soft and lax in their duties.
Fifty years ago, the failure of the Eight Immortals cost us all dearly. The Monster King escaped, slipping from the Thousand Stone Chains that held him in place with Jade Locks. The Monster King appeared in front of the Eight Immortals, and smashed apart the powerful Jade Reliquary that held all their power. The Jade Reliquary was broken into eight Jade Relics, and each flew from the Monster King to hide, as fast as the power of the Jade could propel them. The long and short of it is that the power of the broken Jade Reliquary no longer protects our precious Dao Island.
Now, we fight as best we can against the Monster King and his beastly armies. With their enemy restored, the Eight Immortals have shared much knowledge with us. With their help, we have established schools for great swordsmen, archers, and mages, while masters of each discipline wander the lands as well. Each of these schools and masters trains the youngsters of Dao Island to fight monsters and the Monster King, but we are truly looking for the eight Jade Relics spread out across the world. With them, we will rebuild the Jade Reliquary and imprison the Monster King for all time!
Anyways, Fu, that’s the story. Thank you for listening! Of course, that does mean that you missed your appointment in Peach Blossom Forest. Don’t worry, though. You’ll meet your five fellows soon. And then the Tale of the Warriors will truly begin.
