IMO the only good movie in past 5 or more years.
    It's called Public Enemies
Very interesting movie. It is about 1930's gangsters robbing banks.

Public Enemies was terrible indeed, what a chore that movie was!

Moon is also my favorite movie from 2009.

seeing as i dont know what movies youve already seen....

for action you should check out the classics from the 80's if you are an action virgin. these are all movies i have in my collection and in no particular order. since people already posted lots of more modern movies and stuff i was going to mention ill stick to stuff that is old, but is a chance you might not have seen. so a random list of the best in my eyes, could go look at:

    mel gibson:
    lethal weapon 1-4
    mad max 1-3
braveheart, if you really honestly havent seen it

    bruce willis:
    die hard 1-3
    the last boy scout
    12 monkeys
tears of the sun (i didnt really enjoy this but thats me)

    schwarzenegger:
    the running man
    total recall
    true lies
    eraser
    commando
    terminator 1-2
predator 1 (and 2, but that has danny glover from lethal weapon, no arny)

    stallone:
    cobra
judge dredd (also got rob schneider, not everyones cup of tea though)
    rambo 1-3
    demolition man (with wesley snipes)
tango and cash (with kurt russell)

    the rest:
    blade runner
    tremors
    big trouble in little china
beverly hills cop 1-2 (three was a flop in my eyes but might be worth a look)
    they live
the thing (1980's ver. with kurt russell)
robocop 1-2 (three doesnt cut it with me, but who knows)
masters of the universe (courtney cox, dolph lundgren and frank langella!!)
universal soldier 1 (dont ever watch the second one)
    dog soldiers
    highlander
escape from LA, escape from new york (kurt russel)
    alien, aliens, alien 3
    blade runner
doomsday (with rhona mitra and bob hoskins!) new but underrated i think

to me these are all good action films in their own way. if theres any in this list you havent seen then you should definately check them out because they are very mainstream and would appeal to most people who have an interest in the action genre in general.

::edit:: nobody talk to me about van damme or ill kick your avatar into the roof of your inbox.

    Pure action movies?

Predator, the Terminator movies, Robocop, Demolition Man, Tango & Cash (Action/Comedy), Die Hard (2nd was a bit lame, 1st and 3rd were brilliant) and that's about it.

Wait until August and go see The Expendables.

Men in Black was fun...I'm sure you've seen it, but perhaps time for a re-visit?
