Reputation: 9there are only 2 games worth the pvp : Shadowbane and Guildwars the rest is garbage.
sad to say that no game can match DAOC in PVP.
Nothing will ever complete feeling of playing DAOC... nothing... DAOC is the only reason I still play MMOs, lol.
If you want a new experience, you can try out LOTRO, great PvE... really great. It has a little bit of a PVP experience in a realm sense with Player vs Monsters mode, where you can choose to play as a creep or as your main, it's pretty fun.
Really? Ultima Online had pretty nasty PvP.
;/ It's like DAOC though, dying, yet...still has that player base. It's a shame, if they'd just make games like DAOC/Everquest/Ultima Online F2P...I don't really see why not at this point.
Reputation: 10It's because those type of games don't sell as well anymore in this day and age. If you look at any game boards, majority of the people whine and cry about anything difficult they come across. If you compare difficulty and gameplay of older games like DAOC/Everquest/UO to any games now, you'll find that everything is so dumbed down for the casual gamers now. People were willing to go run 2 hours from their spawn point to savage their corpse for all the items that they dropped when they died. If you had that in a game now a days, at least half the people would've complained and left.
Reputation: 10Diablo 1 ftw. I love how I lost everything.
Reputation: 119I'm digging the pvp in Aion, it's kind of similar to DAoC in the respect that you take over forts and whatnot from other nations, however it is completely different in how it plays and whatnot so it's all up to your own personal taste on whether or not you like it.
Reputation: 34i have yet to find an mmorpg i like as much daoc, last time i reactivated my account was when the classic servers just came out and man it was fun
but i had been playing off and on since SI came out, daoc was my 1st mmorpg and still the best to me
i had a crap computer back then and when catacombs came out it ruined me even with the old models on i couldn't go into the catacomb areas to buy the gear so i had to install it on my brothers computer just to do that
then i got behind on expansions, i didn't get darkness rising so i ended up quitting, now LOTM is out too so unless i want to drop like 65 dollars for both expansions+a month sub i cant start again so i had to let it go, i kept saying "oh ill just find a new mmorpg" (warhammer at the time before it had come out)
but i just cant.... so now i dont play p2p mmorpgs anymore and most f2ps are crappy
but i had lots on fun, on mordred+classic servers especially
it was a different time in mmorpgs exploring learning where dungeons were, finding good camps, like sometimes i would just get lost for the longest time like when i was new to VW (the mid one with the werewolf dudes at the front) i think it was i would get lost in the woods and couldn't find the horse dude to get back out of the woods from the dungeon or trying to find TC in hib just things like that are really nostalgic and they don't exist anymore cause everything is a hand holding theme park mmorpg now
not to mention all the wonderful pvp i had on mord (and classic+bg's),i have all these great memories of daoc and that makes me happy even though i don't play anymore
