Been raging for 11 days, bought a new graphics card (ASUS Radeon HD 5770) and my monitor won't turn on, the LED stays orange. I previously had a 8800GTX which worked fine but then exploded and gave me red lines down my monitor so I had to go back to my 7300gs.
Specs:
700W PSU
The card is not loose in the slot and I only have one slot so it can't be in the wrong one. I have tried resetting the CMOS by moving the jumpers to pins 2/3 and then back again,my BIOS card setting is PCI-E and the onboard cannot be disabled but this caused no trouble with the 8800GTX previously. I have reset the BIOS to default settings and that failed aswell. I have tried using 1GB of ram at a time which didn't work out.I have not uninstalled previous nvidia drivers but this should not stop the monitor detecting the card, if it does I will facepalm (might check tomorrow when I wake up). I have a 12V rail due to the requirement of the previous card to my 700W PSU and the 6 pin connector is in the graphics card correctly. I read that my motherboard may be grounding to the removable mobo plate but I highly doubt this and I also have no clue how to check this other than unscrewing the motherboard.
So, can anyone think of something else wrong? 99% sure screen and card are not defective. Checked and I think the motherboard can handle 1GB memory (says up to 2gb) Oh and the graphics card has power to it, the fan runs and everything aswell as the rest of computer, my monitor is just idle (orange light).
