    Default Best online building game

Hi there! Looking for something to play whilst you mine ore in deep space? Or maybe in between them ever important Raids and Guild events? Want to build stuff, plant stuff, potentially kill (and grief pubbies) for your own amusement?

Stolen from Delamore's post in Games:

"Haven & Hearth is a MMORPG set in a fictional world loosely inspired by Slavic and Germanic myth and
legend. The game sets itself apart from other games in the genre in its aim to provide players with an
interactive, affectable and mutable game world, which can be permanently and fundamentally changed and
affected through actions undertaken by the players. Our fundamental goal with Haven & Hearth is to create
a game in which player choices have permanent and/or lasting effects and, thus, providing said players
with a meaningful and fun gaming experience blah blah blah"

Haven and Hearth is a small indie MMO in which you build towns with other players, trade with them, rob
them or even murder them. It has a surprising amount of content for an MMO built by two guys in their
free time and gets regular updates nearly every weekend. You can build everything you want in this game,
whole towns built from nothing but forests, Castle towns built
between natural barriers and even fortresses of brick walls as far as the eye can see. Everything
in this game is built by players and you can take it all from them.

    Features

    * No restraints on player vs player combat.
    * Permadeath - Your rear end is gone when you die.
    * No Item Protection - You can rob people blind, and destroy their stuff.
    * Extensive Crafting - Possible to make large amounts of varied objects.
    * Alpha - You get new features to dick around with about once a week.
    * Combat System - Not just click and attack, there are several combat options.
    * Limited Terraforming - Boulders and trees disappear once used. Planted grass and paved stone.
    * No Admin Punishment - You won't get punished for being an rear end in a top hat.
    * No Ingame Staff - Except for the 2 devs. You see them walking around occasionally.

    Where is the game?
It uses Java to launch: http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/autohaven
    The actual website is: http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/
Custom client made by a player for windows: edit the resolution in config.cfg and then run run.bat

The trailer posted there is a bit old, showing off the game and its features. There's been many changes since then.

    Do I have to grind?
The choice is up to you. The game has a somewhat unique system. You gain experience for most actions. You
can use those to buy skills, or upgrade your skillvalues for crafting or combat. Most of the skills don't
    take very long to get.

    Are there monsters?
No, but there is the local wildlife. The difficulty of them shifts with the level of civilization - which
is determined by how many hearthfires, and cabins are in a area. There are cows, foxes, chickens, rabbits,
    sheep, boars and bears.

Foxes get aggressive at level 3, Bears get aggressive at level 5. Likewise you won't see a bear unless you
travel out. The bears are not to be underestimated, as most people can't fight them. Also flames shoot out
of a bear's eyes when its near death, and it hits 100% more often.

    Is it free?
    Yes.

    Permadeath?
If someone murders your character. You lose a ton. While not full on permadeath, you can make a descendant
of your previous character. You lose all of your items, assloads of stats, your player name, and you keep
a LP amount based on your Tradition/Change belief slider. Also this character can't be named after the
previous. You also leave a corpse, which decays into a skeleton which is around forever.

So basically you log in and play 5 minutes, some high lvl kills you, robs your stuff, and then you die permanently and you have to start over. Rofl, bad game.

All I have to say is; if you use an image with an inverted swastika on it for promotion, whoever you are, you should get your head checked because there's clearly something missing between your ears.

    Reported for obvious reasons.

For me it was just lulz. I didn't think he was promoting Nazism. Besides, the game is based in ancient times where I believe that shape was used by many different cultures to represent "good things", maybe protection or an ode to nature. I don't know much about swastikas.

Wikipedia doesn't suggest any symbolic difference between the two different swastikas.
From all I read so far, Naziism was the only "negative" use for it, yet it's been prevalent in the world since ancient times. The Nazi swastika is clockwise as is the one used in Hinduism and Jainism.
apparently the swastika in all forms of use symbolizes victory.

Nazi ensigns had a through and through image, so both versions were present, one on each side, but the Nazi flag on land was right-facing on both sides and at a 45° rotation.[7]

    Clockwise or anti-clockwise doesn't matter.

    The important difference?

    That's a good point.
Since the game landscape is isometric, they could have intended to make a regular swastika that ended up appearing to be at 90 degrees.
Or it could be that they intended to make the nazi swastika.

Question yourself did they make that swastika for the sprites or for the people viewing that screenshot.

You have to be an absolute idiot to use a graphic with such a symbol in it. Regardless of which version you are using (nazi or indian), you still should be intelligent enough to realize that it would be seen in the nazi way. This game can fail, I'll never try it because of it. Terrible.

I'm all for open world PvP...but if you can just kill someone randomly, and there's some sort of persistant leveling system, that's just ******ed. That type of system relies too much on everyone playing the game to be good-natured and not some random douchebag who likes to grief.
