Default MMORPG's with deep/complex chr development?

We see a lot of MMORPG's out there that follow the linear formula aka lvl 1-100 and few talents or attributes you just put (dex/str). I personally love MMORPG that make you discover the "OP" way either through experience or in a way unlocking it through the game. How many MMORPG's we got with such system atm. I am honest at least and every vet knows that there is no such thing as "balance" in a multi class system. The balance though is more in "how far" you can go and do with one character against "others".

I know EVE has complex ship/chr development. Any others MMORPG's out there where you can take at least 3 decently gear/skilled players by yourself with ease atm? I like to go far in a MMORPG and shape others gameplay experience in it.

Are you only looking for F2P MMORPGs? If so the closest thing would probably be Mabinogi.

If you are including P2P, I would have to suggest UO and the like.

There is a game called NWN (Neverwinter Nights). It's not really an MMO, but there are still many active server. The character customization with visuals is not really awesome, but better than most. The in-game complexity is really high if you ask me. There are many classes and subclass, as well as many "feats". The feats are either character bonuses or passive/active skills you can use. The is also the ol' regular attribute points as well. Before you head on-line though, be sure to check some guides, there are many out there.

Ive always wanted to try this game. Its supposed to have excellent user created modules right? It looks like such a blast of a game to play!

Aw thats too bad, how is it from a strict single player standpoint? Just running modules and stuff by yourself? Or are there better games out there for that kind of stuff. A lot of the classics I have never played for PC :/

I found it boring by myself, you might enjoy it though.

Ryzom's community was terrible just to warn you if you decide to try that game..it does have a lot of customization (you sort of edit your skills to be the way you want them to be, like more power but more chance of miss or less power and less energy used etc.)

I would agree with the ppl that said Anarchy Online, one of the more indeep char dev ~ Still come and go in that game (8 years now right?) just cause of the complexity of that game

I also recommend DDO. The character development is very rich and made a very big impression on me. The enhancement and feat list is very big with only a portion that you can choose from... yet swapping isn't so difficult if you try different choices. The same goes for spells.
There's a lot I could say about the complexity of the system... but if you're considering playing DDO you might want to know that all missions are instanced.
Even though the level cap is at 20 it takes a long time to reach each level. It's a very complex game for a graphical mmorpg(lots of fun too).
