I've used Firefox since back when it used to be the fastest and most secure.
I'd use Chrome but I don't like the look of it, and I like having my bookmarks toolbars (Which I couldn't find in Chrome) on screen at all times.

It's just what I'm used to, and I don't like change; whether other browsers are faster/more secure or not.

Chrome sends any string in the url/search bar to google. This is all the pages you visit you didn't google as well as pages you didn't even visit.
IE does not suport any scripting standards properly, so does Opera (which is imo pathetic, unstable and worst UI by far).
Safari is a security nightmare that never gets patched and doesn't have any features.

    Firefox:
    Addons
    Regular patches
    good appliance to standards
    best native UI

    stable

Also if IE, or whatever other of the fascist browser crowd wasn't free, that wouldn't matter.
    Newsflash: Firefox is OSS.

    You don't know that.
You live behind the moon thought, too...
IE and Chrome do all that, just cause they dont prompt you with a download box or make you try to update everytime you open it doesn't mean its not their. IE could be updateing threw windows updates and people would never notice. Hell chrome was just recently out of beta and it has addon, updates, only stablety problems ive ever had concerns flash

And the whole it sends information thing. It actually have a privacy mode built into both IE8 and Chrome you just have too click it...

Looool, the privacy button does not stop the homecall.

    Where you really thinking that?
    Effin hilarious...

    @People wouldn't notice:
I personally will care less in my browser choice, if you can't figure out if a browser is secure or not, sorry to tell you so.

Firefox ate up too much of my resources so I kicked his *** out and let Chrome charm my undies off.

IE: No ad blockers, no popup blockers, no tabs, etc. At least now they have tabs, but they do not have as much feature as open-source browser with their growing add-ons developments.

Firefox: To me, firefox layout/interface is more nicer, as well as having more settings in comparison to chrome.

Chrome: It is just fast. I hate the layout design of it. to me, it is very unpleasant.

Opera: I stop using this ages ago for firefox and never went back.

    My Firefox Add-ons:
    - Adblock
    - NoScript

    - Canadian English Dictionary
    - Dictionary Tooltip

    - FireFTP
    - FireFTP button
    - Flashgot
    - Download Helper
    - Auto Shutdown

    - Cool Preview
    - Right-Click-Link
    - Open With
    - Web Developer
    - Split Browser

    - Personas
    - Personas Rotator

    - FoxTab
    - Password Exporter

    My Chrome Add-ons:
    - Adblock
    - Browser Button for Adblock

    - Google Dictionary (by google)
    - Google Translate

Chrome is still new, it does not support Canadian English, and it does not have as much which is why I stay with firefox. As you can see, due to all those firefox add-ons and setting the add-ons option properly, makes it a far superior browser.

In terms of safe browser, it does not exist, it is up to to the user's common sense to avoid getting infected. As for the firefox only issue, it's because of the web-developer aren't using standard css 2.1 / css 3.0, xhtml schemes, although html 5.0 is another story. quite abit of website likes to use broken scheme and have broken javascript. Not just that, some of the web developers are using 'px' instead of 'em' as well.

    For me its personal preference.

My main gripe is the download manager in chrome/opera, they suck ***.

I also hate the search engine bar, and prefer firefox because I like to be able to click and sticky my search bar rather than having to always enter in a keyword.

The interface for Firefox 4 looks like it will fix any issues anyone had with the interface, and the memory consumption hasnt been bad for me. Compared to chrome which ****in crashes when using memory intensive web apps.

Adblock works way better on firefox than on any other browser.

I've tried Chrome and Opera, but meh. I always come back to Firefox because I think it's the best browser.

    AdBlock+ NoScript + Personas = Epic win
I found firefox on my own when I was a computer noob IE on my old pc kept crashing.
I'm not looking for a super fast browser just a stable safe decent speed one.

Firefox starts up quicker, and it doesn't ***** about updating every time you start up with a huge pop up window.

New Question! Why do fat chicks wear tight shirts?

And bah to all you firefox sluts! CHROME IS YOUR DADDY! You will all regret this when Google's Mother Brain wakes up and becomes self aware and takes over the world!

When I opened this page in firefox it took like two and a half seconds to load.

    In IE it took 8.

That aside I had been using IE for an extremely long *** amount of years then I got bored of it and I decided to try out firefox thinking it'd be lame as well then I was like holy shit this thing owns.

If you mean 6 gigabytes you are a liar. Firefox is still a 32 bit program.

I don't like people who exaggerate:

"OMG there was a fire down the street and there were like 1000 firefighters there!"

Anyways. I never found firefox to be memory intensive at all. Even when I have it under a heavy load. Chrome crashed while running Google Video... lol go figure o_O
