This. Both of them aren't very impressive and the first one just didn't appeal to me. Neither did the second one, but at least it is still useable as a render.

What I'd like to know is when the hell Wafflez' sig came into discussion.

Sure, the effects are third rate and the stock was ruined by the smudge, but the colors are visually appealing, and more importantly, it isn't part of the bloody tag battle. Yet overall, it's easy on the eyes. But more importantly, it's not under discussion.

spirit, if you're going to make a rebuttal, don't drag in irrelevant factors just to give meat to your post.

Now a little more in-depth about these two shameful pieces of sh- cough - "tags".

Great cropping decisions
Decent lighting ON the render

=Cons=
Terrible effects, it looks like it got c4d'ed up the wrong hole
Contrast is too harsh for such a small space with so little manipulation
Background light sauces are off
Depth of field is completely skewered

There's a bird on the right

Choppy, badly rendered "additional effects"
Terrible colors
The use of negative space (albeit, none) just makes me want to cringe
It's not a god damn pop out signature if shit's cut off right at the border of the canvas, you can see it clearly on the top right.
There's absolutely no coherency between ANY of its elements


Now begone with this trash and move on to more important things, like a better tag battle in which either of you will make an effort.

Alright, here we go:

Number 1: Lacks any decent effects, proper blending, or basically any advanced techniques that even a tutorial-based artist should understand. Don't really see many positives about this signature, and it doesnt look very good as a whole anyways.

Number 2: Once again, lacks any decent effects. The colors however look much better, and the simplistic style makes it visually better than the first signature, even though it isn't necessarily a better signature.

Battle of two low signatures, have to give it to the most visually appealing one.

Number 2 should win based on that fact alone.
Number 1 will win because it looks like more work was done.

Any decent effects? Do you want me to slam the PSD in your face and shut you up? Blending? I worked 2 days on blending alone. I think the blending is good enough for a gaming forum. Advanced techniques? Oh you mean like spamming C4Ds and not having any relation to lighting,background and render?

You talk a lot of trash for a person who can't even make a half decent sig. Try going to a real graphics forum and battle me, or any of my friends.

Ha scrub. Show me one tag of yours thats better than mine. Hell, you think you're a better artist than me? Show me some real art. I'm only 14 and I highly doubt you can anything better than me.

Honestly, your tag sucks. Stick to gaming forums, because you're not good enough for any other forums. Sorry you don't like my 10 minute tag in my signature that's been there forever because I am too lazy to get on my other computer and upload another tag and this computer doesn't have photoshop cracked.

It sucks.
The effects suck.
Everything about it, basically sucks.

Move on, try and suck less next time, or don't post it on a graphics forum where some members are actually good at critiquing.


And just FYI, not to list the long, LONG line of GFX forums I have been a part of either as a member, a competitor, or part of the ranking crew, I was one of the top critics on sigoftheweek.com back when it was running, and even won one of the competitions there.

(For anyone who knows the site, it was HUGE where they rewarded critics who were respected and gave good insight, and every SOTW competition had prizes so people from all competitive forums came to enter. From all over, ranging from GFXVoid to Solid Snake Designs, to 99Designs and Threadless competitors from today.)



Edit: Even if you don't win, congratulations to Hannah, who I assume was the maker of tag 2 after the outburst over the tag 1 hate, because your signature looked the best and therefore is at least the UNOFFICIAL winner in the eye of any critic.

To be honest, I'm not sure why you even bother to post them here for the competition. If you want, I can bring the ranking crew from a couple sites onto MSN (Haven't logged on in forever, assume they still have the same emails) and have them critique you guys properly.
