Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Good music doesn't require good lyrics.

    oh god

if you think music "these days" has bad lyrics, you're just not looking hard enough.

and Lil Wayne doesnt have good beats? thats the main reason i listen to him. i lvoe his beats and bass. IF i was a lyric hippy im sure i cant find ppl singing about how horrible it is to live in the ghetto or whatever shit is considered 'good lyrics' to sing about.

Nowadays all you need is a good hook and some electro beat.

It's funny though cause I was watching Adam Lambert last night on MTV and I was wondering the same thing. These songs don't have any stories to tell or any lessons.....they are just notes. Like someone took a note saying "If I had you!" and stretched it out into a song.

Edit: Now shut up and listen to Adam Lambert!

Yeah, and like Shadowsworn said, it's just asinine to think no modern music has good lyrics.

Well yeah a lot of current music has great lyrics but most of pop culture itself is just hook and beat. I suppose it helps to get a single hit but meh so cheesy.

Also most rap is just as bad as pop.

"Don't call my name, don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe, I'm not your babe, Fernando"

I'm sorry but if that isn't poetry in its purest form then I give up!

Modern yet unknown band. I love them and their lyrics are pretty cool too.

    Wuthering Heights are great.

Wintersun, I'm guessing you know Insomnium, they have some pretty kickin' lyrics.

As far as hip-hop is concerned, Canibus and Jehst are my favorite lyricists.

    Try it.

    I dare you.

Why do people think that it's easy to get famous just because a lot of talentless people are?

I guarantee you couldn't get famous if you tried.

You used Eminem's song with RIHANNA to show that commercial MCs are still...GOOD?

Things have changed since I went to bed last night. It appears we now live in Opposite World.

Be right back, meeting with the Chocolate King himself, Mr. John Dorian.

The problem with all of your lyrics is that they all have a distinct lack of pirate.

If you could sit down and write a top 100 song in 15 minutes with little to no effort, you'd do it too.

People care about effect. People care about catchy-ness. People care about something thats marketable. People care about whats cool.

Unfortunately, whats "cool" is pretty shitty at the moment haha. Just hang out and wait. Maybe your scene will be invaded next and ruined by the mainstream!
