Default Why are WoW players so scared for people too see their names??

I've never seen so much nerdrage over your name being posted.

I'm in witness protection for testifying in a trial that sent a man to death, and his family swore to send me to my death too, so I will be deleting every single post I've ever made in FEAR for MY VERY LIFE.
Right. The first rule of Witness Protection Club is you do not talk about Witness Protection Club.

I PLAY THIS TO GET AWAY FOR RL
    More Nerdrage

Another thing that bothers me about this is that I don't always want people to know I'm female when I post on threads. I don't want to be judged because I'm female and I bet I could guarantee Facebook requests if I posted and people saw my real name. My name is unique and it wouldn't be hard to find me.
LolItsAGuy Not like they know your face.

Seriously, is it just me or am I the only one not scared to meet anyone from the internet and expect them to kimbo slice me and throw me iin a van?

I've been using my real name on profiles and such since I started using the internet at like 11 and I have yet to be butt ***** or stalked or harassed irl over E-drama

Meh, I don't even use the WoW forums, so this doesn't apply to me.
Even if I did/do, my name is ALL over the internet. Anybody cool already knows it.

Meh. If someone I think of as close asks, I'll gladly tell them. But I don't give mine out to random people. If I wanted to be spoken to in that familiar of a way, I'd make my real name my ign.

Doesn't apply to me cause my names awesome but its hard for most people to get their name usually taken.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if they'd allow your last to be shortened like: Snow B.

I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

Reason is how are they going to enforce this rule? I mean most people that pay for the kid's wow subscription are the parents and hell you can use Game time cards that doesn't require really any personal info.

rather not have a bunch of fat neckbeards seeing my real name and knowing who I am on the internet. When I give anything my real name I use it with the confidence that it won't give it out. I don't play WoW but if I did I'de probably be a little disgruntled.

And if that's a little too mean, I just rather not have people seeing my personal information unless I show them it.

I'm not a fan of it and probably simply leaving wow permanently because it is a blatant violation of privacy and with no option to disable it. This is on the level of painting your name on the side of your car. Yes, cars have license plates where they can get your name, but you have the option of blocking non-government agencies from looking at that information in most states.

There are also a few dozen other issues with this, but a privacy violation is probably one of the most clear.

Eh people like to talk hard and act tough when they feel safe but when they feel like they can't do that anymore then they ***** and whine.

This might help the community. But after the first murder I say they stop it.
