Default Allods Online takes out Fear of Death

Just installed the game, downloading the patch.
When I was around reading reviews for the game this was one of the most frequent reoccurring cons. Never knew what it was until I read about it on the official forums. A stackable penalty for dying? And you can only get it removed by their cashshop perfume or waiting it out? Sounds like it sucked. But seems like I chose a good day to install at least lol

Anyone else playing that's starting a new character? Think I'll be going as PapaSmurf or some variation like most of my other games

You chose a terrible day to install, I am so disappointed in the Astrum Nival development team right now I can't really put it in words.

The new patch is literally just a cash grab.

    Really? How?

I was looking into downloading this or Martial Empires. Then I heard ME blocked NA IPs? So I had to choose this as default. Looked nice though

edit: I've been looking into Global Agenda too. Is it good?

Several of the cash items got a revamp, more cash mounts, and cursed items.

Tep has spread a curse across Sarnaut that has led to the corruption of many items, causing their stats to become inverted. The bodies of powerful bosses as well as treasure chests frequently carry these cursed items in addition to their typical amount of regular items. Items that are worn by players also have a small chance of being cursed upon the player’s death. Tep’s Curse only affects rare, epic, and legendary items, and can be removed with special Scrolls of Purification that can be obtained from the Item Shop. Players can also buy a special Holy Charm that protects their items from being cursed each time they die. For additional information about the cursed items, players should visit their faction’s Keeper of Secrets
Honestly, knowing this patch was on the way was the one thing that kept me from getting in to Allods.

    Also.

    • The cost of reviving early from Purgatory has been decreased by 60%

    • The time spent in Purgatory has been increased by 100%

So I saw the same consensus on another thread on here. The new patch made it almost impossible for free players to get into the game =/
Looks like I'm uninstalling. Really needed a new good MMORPG to get into.
Guess I'm stuck just playing what I have on steam

    EDIT:
a question, how long did it take Gpotato to kill this game?
Despite what people seem to beleive, it is NOT gPotato's fault. While they aren't the best, a good 99% of what is going on now is Astrum Nivel.

Plus, anyone who wasn't in complete denial saw this coming months ago assuming you visited these forums or the game's forums often.

In other words, it was already ruined before gPotato even had it for that long. We just recieved the less ruined version untill now.

They may have gotten rid of FoD, but they have brought in Cursed Items, which, IMHO, is just as bad a FoD!

In case if anyone would like to play the game and live with cursed items and cash mounts, there's more..

There's a thing called incense that buffs ones damage and recovery rate. It was accessible through questing before the patch, but now it's not. It was optional back then, cuz you could kill most of the mobs and participate in PvP without it.
Now you have to buy incense from CS, or you won't be able to kill even a single, normal mob around your level. IMHO, that's ridiculous. Free players had their damaged nerfed just way too far. And from what people were saying, most of the classes are now unplayable. Apart from a warrior, he can still manage to kill(barely) one mob at a time. Hopefully, I've been playing warrior all this time.
Of course, that's not everything. But well, what I mean is...stay away from Allods. At least for now.

it isn't really that CS dependent when you take all your facts ingame, even if you spend much money on patrons and martyrs it's a very low (and I mean VERY low) chance you will get overpowered because they just decreased the chance to make them and increased the chance for them to break during the process... ofc you can continue saying CS dependent from just reading the patch notes, but once you reach end game like me, and not spending a single penny on a game you will see it's not THAT bad, but if you still continue and say it's CS dependent after that I will believe you and agree

    Gotcha.
    You missed the point completely.

His point was: They basically made it REQUIRED to spend money on a game that's advertised as FREE.

You spend DOUBLE the amount of money you'd spend on a P2P mmo.

You basically pay DOUBLE for something advertised as FREE.

Aka, The people who have the money to pay for it, would play WoW or another p2p MMO, not this.

And the people who play Allods usually either:

A.) Don't WANT to spend 15 (or 30 in allod's case) per month

    B.) CAN'T spend that much.

HUGE difference between making money on a game, and running a cash scam. Which is all Free to Play games ever are. They're huge money AND time sinks for very little enjoyment unless you're one of those people who spent hundreds to be an instant winner. Tell me I'm lying. Show me one F2P game with any amount of competitive play that cash =/= winner. MMORPGs, mind you, because that's where this really matters.

Do you know that the Allods Producer said months ago that spending at least 50 dollars a month was something they expected from their paying players? Well, now everyone has to be a paying player. Are you really supporting a crooked company?

cabal, everything can be aquired ingame except for uniforms, which were only for appearance purposes and was the majority of their income. almost everything was tradable aswell. this is, i think, the only game that had a cash shop that didnt involve spending thousands to be able to 1 shot everything. the game itself was one of few mmorpgs that acually took skill to play.
