    What cloud said.

Technically yes. But when you actually look at the world, no.

How can we technically be animals but we're not at the same time. You two aren't making any sense. We are warm-blooded mammals. Mammals are animals. Animals are many-celled organisms (IE: Not plants). Animal, literally, is taken from the word "animate", as in, animated... moving.

We all have "animal instincts" (procreation, food, shelter, etc.).

    I... don't... understand...
How are humans not like animals?

    @Cloud13:
    Well, that is a misconception.

If the word changes it's meaning relative to context, it doesn't implement that the word originally meant that; It rather means the opposite.

In comparison to other living things, we are extremely intelligent. Too intelligent for our own good much of the time.

This topic reminds me of somebody in highschool. They didn't seem to think that humans are animals. I asked if we were rocks. They never spoke to me again.

It would probably be wrong to say today's monkeys are less evolved than humans, more like we evolved differently.

In a way it's kinda insulting to compare a higher intelligence to an animal.
Well atleast thats how people make it seem.
I don't understand this at all. I'd rather be compared with animals, who for the most part, lead undestructive lives within the boundaries of our earth's nature, without indulging in all the shitty behaviour humans do on regular basis, than be compared to most humans.

In fact, if I were to put most animals up against most humans, for example by the moral standards applied by most humans, I'm pretty sure animals would win out.

Only idiots with a skewed perceptions of reality would take offence at being compared to an animal. Furthermore, "higher intelligence" is a subjective term that shouldn't be used seriously unless you're a douchebag with a superiority complex(not aimed at you, just so you know it)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    On-topic:
And yes, humans are animals by definition.
There is nothing noteworthy that would warrant classing mankind as appart from animal. We're "smart", by our own definition. That's it. The only reason some people wish to indulge in "human's are unique and special"-fantasies, is because they're to weak to deal with reality, and would rather spend time snuggling with their comfort-blanket than actually do something truly productive - Probably because it's much easier to simply imagine that you're special, instead of doing something special.

Cars are an inefficient means of transport when you can simply pop another badger into existence wherever you want. Super cloney powers + teleporting > cars.

Humans do ALL of those things. THAT's why we're intelligent.
Are you telling me that animals which help out other animals are being moral?
Do you not realize that for one thing, morals are subjective, and for another, you can't actually measure morality?
And are you telling me that a lioness adopting a baby deer means that it felt bad for it? ARE YOU DENSE? IT WAS JUST A NURTURING INSTINCT. INSTINCT, NOT EMOTION.

Humans are extremely intelligent. End of story.
For all we know she could have felt bad for it even dogs get depressed so to ask if he is Dense and that it was instinct when you dont know it could have been emotion that lead to instinct or Vis Versa makes you look equally as "Dense" they can't tell us what they feel animals have died from depression from losing other members of that pack/family were they don't eat or function so if thats not emotion then what is it because it's not instinct it goes against the very nature of instinct

Yah that is just a myth.

Humans use most of their brain.

There is no such thing as telekinesis, real life is not the same as those movies you have been watching.
its not a myth its a theory and no one knows exactly and thats just your opinion ^^ I havent watched movies...it was a doku and so on.
There is nothing like telekinesis because know one reached this lvl yet. There are some humans who have special abilitys like healing with there hand (to get a connection to the other body) and thats true..perhaps they cant heal a big wound but something like belly aches and so on (just with their mind + body in some seconds) so its allready smth special and i think every human can do such a thing if he knows how to use your ability as a human.
