The game is still alive, Odin's server has a decent population.

More than alive and kicking right now, thanks to a dedicated fan base it has at least 200k+ players right now, probably more who knows. (obviously I don't mean simultaneous players)


The question remains though what will happen to the game come the release of FFXIV, so take that into consideration if you want to play the game. SE wants to keep updating FFXI apparently, but who knows.

I'm thinking about buying it too. I'd assume that if they give you 30 days, they'd give you 30 days, not make you pay more.

All companies require you to input credit card data to get the 30 days, but you can always unsubscribe before the 30 days are up.
