Anthony Hopkins is going to make this movie awesome!

They need to cast him as a Super Hero. I'd like to see him kick ***!

Hammer of Thor looks so generic. :/

thing is, i dont see him using a shield and using a small hammer like that for pure offense isnt gonna work out against swords or other longer ranged weapons, u just cant block with it.. atleast thats the first thing that popped into my mind. i dont know the story, his powers or anything related to thor really so i might have spoken to soon :P
He doesn't use a shield. Not in the comics.

It does work out against swords and long range weapons. Has done in the comics, will do in the movie.

I guess people are expecting his hammer to be gigantic, like

If I'm not mistaken, I thought in the comics Thor didn't know who he was when he first got to Earth. I guess they cut that out to fit in time constraints.

No matter, I'm excited for all the superhero movies.

Also, I was shocked to find out that the director is none other than

In the comics, Odin casts him down and puts his spirit into the body of a human doctor, Donald Blake.

After about a decade, Odin had thought Thor learned the lesson and started planting suggestions in his mind etc.

They're two separate beings, but sort of the same. Obviously Thor existed and exists separately. Thor isn't Blake, Blake isn't Thor, but a lot of the time Donald Blake is Thor's avatar on Earth, consciously. It would require two different actors and it'd just be a whole load of time. He's a big part of the comics, but I consider it an acceptable change.

I'm just glad The Destroyer embodies absolutely everything it's meant to. Loki is clearly a villain who, while a lethal combatant, isn't up to beating Thor. He's the cerebral villain. The Destroyer is the enemy that Thor will eventually have to square off against.

I hope so too. I want to see that hammer get so ****ing large that he can barely hold it up and when he smashes things with it he totally has to yell "THOR SMASH!". Yeah!

Either way, I'd imagine that a bulk of the gross does come from general viewers, sure.

However, the very reason Marvel reboots shit is because while they are a business, and businesses care about money, they also care about how their characters are represented on ALL fronts.

Spider-Man 3 was, I think, the highest grossing of the three. That or it's one of the highest overall grossing movies ever. Why do you think they're rebooting it? Because fans, FANS, thought it was garbage. Essentially, if Marvel piss loads of fans off with these movies, who is going to suffer? Marvel. If fans turn away from purchasing the products or supporting the company, you think they'll be grateful that some chick and her boyfriend went to see Spider-Man 3 and loved it? No. How can you logically say it seems like they're just trying to sooth nerdrage?

For one, them trying to sooth nerdrage suggests that they do care, very much, about what their primary fans think. So that's you countering your own argument.

Secondly, the reason they're even doing this continuity thing is for people who KNOW about the continuity. You don't have the first clue about The Avengers and their history, without Google anyway. Neither do most people. You think they're going to all this trouble for popcorn-eating movie goers? No.

The general public not caring what kind of god Thor is does not mean those in charge shouldn't either. Thankfully they do.
Well it was also another part of my point that the general public is mostly ignorant to who these comic book heroes/villains are but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy a movie about a comic book hero/villain just as much as a comic book nerd can. And I've read Books of Doom fully and Doomwar up to 5 just recently. A movie based on the Books of Doom or Doomwar would be ****ing epic. I wish I had the money to throw around and pay people to do these movies for me. ><

Edit: Also Norrin I respect your view very much. Teach me all wise Comic book guru!

You assume I'd work on an American channel commentating on a primarily European sport.

    Regardless, topic.

    1. It's a HAMMER. It's CLEARLY visible as a hammer, it's known as legend to be a hammer, everybody knows Thor has a hammer and Odin SAYS it's a hammer in the trailer. Why did you think it was a sword? You can even see that it's a hammer.

    2. Hulk? Why would they do that in the trailer? Literally no reason for him to be there. Even so, Hulk couldn't have retrieved the hammer because it's not a feat of strength to pick it up, it's an enchantment.

Honestly, that baffles me. How could anyone watch a THOR movie trailer and think he was trying to pull a sword out of stone?
In the The Avengers animated movie Hulk does so... <_<

Hulk is very capable of beating Thor.

He's not an idiot. Of course, only comics readers would know that.

Norrin, I got this for you, thought it might help.

I know you love your comics, but you can put on a happy face for the uninformed.
