This project is not entirely metal, but the guy came from a Black Metal band. The influence is shown sometimes, like in this track.

Also, Ihsahn is always awesome.

Hardcore with metal influences = metalcore. In someways, it's derivative from Gothenburg metal which is why Elitists shun bands like At The Gates (After Slaughter of the Soul) and In Flames and Dark Tranquility(not so much because they have some Black Metal influenced songs). Core bands are punk bands, not metal bands.

Just as Thrash Metal is Metal with Hardcore Punk influences.
