    Oh wait, you can't.

    While quadcores don't use all 4 cores doesn't mean only 1/2 cores will be used in total.
    If I'm not mistaken Windows shifts stuff to the other less loaded cores thus giving you more power for your cores.
    I can play Metro 2033 at directx 10 very high settings just fine with my dual core.

    I used;

    AMD Athlon X2 5200+ 2.7 ghz
    8800GT OC
    2 gigs of DDR2 800mhz RAM

    It was sort of a discouraging statement rather than a fact.

    You're going to shoot yourself in the foot a few times if you want a new gaming PC and buy a dualcore instead of a quadcore just because games aren't optimized for quadcores yet.
    (and I wrote this after a sleepless night, so I cba to think of a game that doesn't run well on a dual)

    I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

    Yah I understand what you are saying just wanted to go over that point.

    I built my PC around 3 years ago so that is why I went for dual core back then.

    But if I were to build another right now I would go for a quad core.
