Well, the black guy is usually the first guy to die, in most white writer's movies(assuming they have a black guy). It wouldn't be good if the main character is black..

Well there have been black super heroes and there are cartoon shows about super heroes with black heroes.

But hm I'm half Pacific Islander and I don't want to see a Pacific Islander super hero.

He'd probably be so stereotype and by like a Hawaiian fish talking guy.

Yeah because only Hawaiians are Pacific Islanders.

    She knows how to party.

Well in the Marvel movies they are using the Ultimate version of Nick Fury, who is black.

That should satisfy most people I think.

There was a major influx of black superheroes back when comics were a big hit,but then comics started to fail and most of them died

Well one reason is because the popularity of comics started in the early 30s and 40s and back in those times racism was much more rampant.

Having a black person in any important role was rare in media at that time.

But I admit it is a little surprising that in this day in age there are not a lot of newer black super heroes.....racism is still here though just not as apparent as before.

But I myself don't really think there is a race and I'd rather not complain about it because separating humans into different groups usually leads to a "us or them" mentality.

IMO they should get rid of things like Black History month.

The thread title almost made rage and super list a bunch of heroes all up in this place, mmhm. But having read the thread, I'm a bit glad that most aren't mainstream. If jaded heroes like cloak started to become burger kings new model for kids meals, i would be a bit ticked.

There are many, and many of them are famous.

Spawn, is black. The Falcon, Luke Cage, John Stewart/Green Lantern, Storm etc.

Black Panther is/was ruler of his own African nation and Storm was his queen. It wasn't a poor place either, it was one of the world's richest.

I agree. Though obviously some racism still exists, for the most part people who've been oppressed keep using the guilt card and try to make problems out of nothing.

I think they should get rid of it because it'd be a massive blow AGAINST racism.

The only thing you're doing by having a BLACK history month is keeping the segregation alive in peoples' minds. Like, black history and other history? Why? Just have history and include the important aspects of all races.

I think Morgan Freeman said that too, that he didn't know any "black" history. Only history.

    Well, yeah. The human race.

There are ethnicities. Ethnicities which we should be mature enough to acknowledge differences without prejudice.

You're a not a human until you're on my MSN.

Black or African American alone 12.4%
That's the US %. Therefore to appropriately showcase the population only 12.4% of all superheros can be brown.

Because most of them are shit. Black Panther is going to eventually get a movie.

Marvel alone has over 5,000 characters, dude. The big properties are getting movies BECAUSE they're big properties. There are more white Marvel characters that won't get movies than black ones.

Besides, if you knew the history you'd know that Blade was the live-action movie that really revived comic book cinema.

probly cos all the established comics are generally american in origin, and until recently most of america is white. derp.

its not done on purpose ya know, just a realistic portrayal of the current ethnic demographic.

    plus what norrin said.

Spawn for the win, I can't say i'm a huge comic book fan but spawn has always been my childhood favorite.
