But the thing is, it worked because there was (is) a huge F2P player base who are still roaming around to find a decent game. They (including me) thought `It was P2P so it must be good, or at least decent...` and gave DDO a try. Since there is not a decent `new` F2P mmo around, most stayed playing it.

But if P2P games keep turning into F2P model, soon that huge `free` player base will start to be picky and choose the better one(s). That means maybe 4-5 of them will keep earning money but the rest`ll keep dieing. Which will probably lead P2P mmo companies loose their interest for F2P and continue with stable income with P2P as long as they can.

Still i`d love to have a free (legal) option to play every MMO out there. Who knows, maybe at the future they will all have P2P and F2P options both and then we can start to be more picky about the balance between P2P and F2P players which i dont think EQ2 will have...
I still think most F2P companies should only make Fashion items/Avatar items a Cash Shop item. >_>

MMOGameSite: There seems to be a trend transforming well-established MMOs from a subscription based one into a free2play model with microtransactions. Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online are just two well-known examples. What do you think about this move? Could a change of the business model also be an option for Fallen Earth, since you lately introduced a small item-shop to Fallen Earth?

Dave Heydysch: I think this is a very interesting trend to see developing in the industry. DDO has been very successful with this and I am sure it has piqued the interest of many game companies. As far as FE, we currently do not have any plans to transition to this model.

So them saying they aren't going F2P means they are going F2P?

That`d be the Ultimate F2P that ever made (if its playable ofcourse). It`d be still good if it also have xp-sp scrolls since the only gain you can get would be the time with your money. Thats the one of the main reasons why i jump game to game lately, they are not even close to that F2P utopia. F2P companies only care about money, balance means nothing for them right now .

@Arri: Nope it was a joke, the point is - it doesnt matter what they say, if they need to change to F2P model they will unless they wanna pull the plug and kill their game.

ye, right.... like u can in eve play without paying a real money. if u dont hawe any1 who would giwe u free plex at begining, u hawe to pay real money, while in ddo u can play for free to max lvl, just gona miss some instances.

ofcourse if u only count eve accounts that are already set up with ships, skills, ofcourse then eve looks more f2p than any other f2p game out there( still u need to collect $ for plex). but u cant start eve as f2p game( if u still insist eve is f2p, then set up me an account or find me some free plex'es, coz i dont mind to play that game for free...) overal, yes u can play eve not paying real money, but game its not for free, u still hawe buy plexes with real money or ingame money
