Default Call of Duty 8 confirmed.

Some time ago, we heard rumors about a mystery Call of Duty that wasn't in development at either Infinity Ward or Treyarch. It was apparently in development at Activision-owned Sledgehammer Games, although no official details existed at the time.

However, Sledgehammer has finally decided to make an announcement...of sorts. According to Industry Gamers, the studio has confirmed they are cranking away on Call of Duty 8, "a game that will take the stories of actual servicemen and turn them into playable situations." The info comes from a few recent Twitter updates by studio co-founder Glen Schofield. It certainly sounds like it could be very authentic and very intriguing:

"Working w/ military guys- their stories will blow you away. Names/locations will change but some situations going in the game- real stuff!"

Schofield also mentioned that music composition for their new project would start soon: "Picking composers 4 the game. Fun stuff, think we found a great fit. Audio will be better than what we did in Dead Space." That's right; some of these guys at Sledgehammer are the same who helped bring you EA's stellar survival/horror title, which went over extremely well with critics and gamers alike. They're dubbing Call of Duty 8 an "adventure FPS," in that it's a spin-off from the standard series.

So yeah, that's three CoDs currently in development: Call of Duty: Black Ops by Treyarch and set for November 9, the third Modern Warfare by Infinity Ward and slated for some time next year (not yet official), and now, Call of Duty 8. Well, maybe the latter will be something very fresh, and that's worth our attention.

Nice sig, me as a diehard cod gamer quit buying CoD games. Since Infinity Ward left(well most people) I respect Respawn Entertainment and hate activistion. Im glad that they created a new company and wont look at any game from activistion again. Money taking nazi's are taking the fun away. I hope Respawn Entertainment will do great stuff at EA. Its really a shame another company is going to make CoD again. It wont feel like the old game and they'd better make a new series. CoD died when the boss of IW left.

    Retread alert for sure.

At least things will be fresher in Call of Duty: Nation Divided (Civil War era), Call of Duty: Revolution (1776), Call of Duty: Hundred Years (116 years of English-French battle), and of course Call of Duty: Troy.

    Well no shit.
They have already said at least 3 cods were in the works (including black ops) and this was ages ago.

Yep this was the 'action adventure' confirmed already.

Call of Duty with 6 games has yet to eclipse what Killzone has done in 3 games.

    I completely disagree.
Modern Warfare is without a shadow of a doubt a far supior game to Killzone.
The controlls arn't clunky, the story was orgasimic and the characters weren't so ****ing annoying that it made you wonder why you were even hanging around with them.

I only finished Killzone 2 because it looked pretty and apart from the graphics it's actually a worse game than then first.
