APB shutdown? *Realtime Worlds enters administration*

APB and Realtime Worlds have been receiving a fair amount of attention in the past few days, and it looks like they are about to get even more from another quarter.

Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that Realtime Worlds is "entering administration," a legal process that essentially allows insolvent companies to continue operating while they try to recover. A third-party company, the Begbies-Traynor Group, will be involved to try to help RTW get back on its feet.

What this means for the future of APB at this point is unclear. There hasn't been a statement regarding this development from anyone at Realtime Worlds, but we'll certainly keep watch for one. In the meantime, you can read the full story at Gamesindustry.biz.

As you may or may not have already read, RTW has recently announced that it has entered into administration. When reading this news, you’ll probably be wondering what effect this will have on you, the players.

Well, the good news is that it doesn’t. APB will continue to run, receive updates and is completely accessible. There will be no disruption to the service.

We''re making the final configuration changes to PTW. The doors will open this afternoon allowing you to jump in and check our best patch yet, 1.4.1! New combat, new matchmaking and new content is just around the corner.

For more information on updates, remember to visit the ‘In Development’ section of the APB forums, as well as follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Hellgate London made the same claims and they shut down fairly quickly.

Guild wars did fine. And global agenda seems to be doing alright.

Truth be told, the exact same thing was said of Guild Wars if I recall correctly.

5 years or so later, and it's still going fairly strong.

Also, B2P=/= no cash shop, if they're smart about it, they COULD include a Cash Shop similer to what Guild Wars has (vanity items and things like that) without even touching the game balance.
