Aion and Age of Conan have really good graphics. But the population for those games are pretty low...

Yeah I think I played this before.

It was called City of Heroes/Villians.

Oh wait, maybe it was Champions Online.

right.. and they both sucked badly due to many reasons..

    mmkey?

Champions had potential .. but Cryptic sux.. the pvp sux.. no villains sux.. glitches and bugs sux
City of Heroes/city of villains/going rogue the game is not progressing.. the xpack had only 4 classes instead of the promised 10.. random poppulation.. split NA and EU servers..

Don't really get why people have so much against slow gameplay, it's not like its the first game out there who have it. Personally I dont mind if it takes a while to beat a monster or run a questline, as long as you enjoy the time spent on doing it it's all good.

The only thing currently that could ruin the game for me is if there isnt a viable option for decent PC controlls, since whatever people say about getting used to the one in the previous game...well it dosn't cut it, theres no excuse for having crap-*** controlls if you release the game on the PC. Hopefully they have taken it into account this time and let us have some decent controll over the interface and keymapping.

I tried FFXI when it was 5 euro in steam about 1 month ago. After long long download and patching... finally got into the game, and pretty much deleted it after 2 hours of playing. The controllers felt bad, and I couldn't kill 2 mobs without sitting down.

I saw almost no players at all, and I had no idea what to do in the game. In my opinion the starting of the game was so horrible, that I just couldn't bear it. Maybe I randomly chose wrong starting place, but then again....

FFXIV on the otherhands does interest me. From seeing the combat vids few weeks back from youtube, the combat actually seems a lot faster than what I saw some videos like 1 month back. Still tho I haven't seen any mention about pvp in that game, and if all I have to do in the game would be collecting materials to build stuff... I might skip this game, altho I like the fact that the game is trying to promote team playing.

There are invisable walls in the beta because the beta is very limited in content, it's only a few area's.

But, I'm also in the beta, and I like it alot.

but the graphics is decent....but... that's all.....

I'd say, just wait for Guild Wars 2!
The very slow pace is deliberate. The game is more about thinking and strategy than twitch based button mashing like other mmo's. Too many people are used to LOLSPAMDABUTTON.

the "beta"(limited like an alpha) is absolutely awful. lots of people are worried at this point.

the game is pretty much finished and people are worried about the extreme content lock. hope it isn't like aoc where they locked the content extremely early because they would not get any subs if people saw what the game really was.

the only difference is aoc had an impressive start(1-20). ffxiv would have to be the complete opposite to be any good.

Awww, I love PvP in my MMO's. :'(

Beating the snot out of some kid is always more fun then beating on some mindless AI mob.

Still, if the PvE is good enough I'd probably let it slide.
I don't mind slow, tactical combat, as long as it's still fun.

Phase 3 of the beta has sped up the battle system big time. It's really fun now.

It's a shame many of you quitted FFXI before reaching Lv. 10, since that's where you start partying, making the game a lot better.

For those of you saying FFXIV it's too slow paced, perhaps WoW has spoiled you. Like most Final Fantasy games, battles requires a little more thinking and less smashing.
Some examples of this would be: Using Guard to block strong attacks with your shield; not spamming spells as that would empty your MP; flanking the enemy depending on your position, etc.

    If you're looking for:
    - PvP
    - Short fights
    - Non time consuming crafting
    - No penalties if you grind with the same class for too long
    - Being able to solo until endgame
    - Etc.

Then FFXIV is not for you.
It has been stated that FF14 is focused more on solo and you will be able to solo till endgame, just that there will be advantages to grouping.

Why is not being able to jump or swim game breaking? I find them pointless and with a jump feature people just spam it over and over when it is certainly not needed which gets kind of irritating, I'm glad there's no jump feature in FFXIV.

to those weary about the closed beta limited stuff, you gotta know that square has to keep a lot of things under wrap so they can keep things interesting on release.

but square picked you guys to find bugs and glitches and have them fixed.

Those things will probably be there on release.

And I kinda love having less quests and more freedom to hunt what you want, till you advance to the next leavequest location...

I'm really starting to suspect their will not even be an open beta. They may expand invites some, but nothing like we've seen with other games.

I was planning on buying all this to a budget of $400..

WOuld it be worth it to spend that 400 dollars on these??
It looks pretty solid but then again you'll have to buy New DDR3 Memories
plus a powersupply if you're bridging and most likely have to install a new BIOS
which then you'll need a new HD and so on, i really don't think its worth all
the trouble for just one game xD so you could just buy a new Powersupply (if needed)
add the other GPU get a better cooling system for your CPU and Overclock it
like tsukoharu said. That all of course if you have another slot for the GPU.
