I think the consoles will go more of the casual route.

I remember when the PS3 was coming out Sony promised 1080P and way beyond 60 FPS but instead we get mostly 720P and 30 FPS and sometimes lower.

That is why I stick with the best gaming platform which is the PC.

I don't think the new consoles will come out for another few years and they will use mid end equipment that is gimped.

Means you can only have a ps4 when you have a TV that supports 1080p? I got a TV that supports 1080i wich is lower, so I wouldn't be able to use the ps4 at all. Useless console means useless console. You shouldn't have to buy a new TV just for a console.

Nope both PS3 and 360 are only 720p systems.

I'll admit I didn't read that wall'o text, I just want to chime in anyways and say that why the hell is there even talk of a PS4 when Sony has yet to deliver on the PS3, they've lost 3 billion on the system already. PS3 has been a failure really so far and it's not the system specs or anything to do with the console, it's Sony's management over the console so far that has caused it to fail.

PS2 ten year run, possibly eleven since there's still the odd game being published for it, why can't Sony get their head out of their asses? They could be dominating the market again with the PS3 but no instead I guess they're too busy planning for a new console and working on motion controls for the PS3 thinking THAT's why Nintendo is destroying them right now... laughs.

Years before the Sony's announcement of the ps3, people speculated and ridiculed specs. And basically none of it was right.

We are 5-7 years away from a ps4.

Even if MS brings out a new console, Sony wont be. PS3 is far from being finished. Ps2 is coming on 11 years running. Ps4 just isnt happening for awhile

Yah but the PS2 was around 6 years of age when the PS3 came out.

I doubt the PS4 will be that far off.

By 2014 there will be regular gaming computers 20x more powerful than any console, not mentioning the higher end ones.

We have computers that are easily 12x more powerful than consoles right now and far more if you SLI or Crossfire them.

Id say no less then 5 years before a new console is needed.

And its common knowledge pc's are better for damn near everything. But a pc thats as good as a ps3, for the price of 400 bucks. Aint happenin'

I could build a PC for around 400-500 that is 3-4 times more powerful than the PS3.

Subtract 70 USD if you are college student or know one because you can get Windows 7 for 30 USD. Another 30 if you already have a good OS

Subtract 18 USD if you already have a DVD drive.

Subtract 15 USd if you already have a keyboard and mouse.

Blu ray is fantastic to have. I never said it was essential. But the fact the ps3 has it, def a plus.

So add up a blu ray to that pc you "added up" and its a bit over board.

Add up the specs of a ps3, add a blu ray. And blamo. For 300 bucks, not even 400. Not bad. Not amazing, i agree. But its ok.

Huge maps + 128v128 with airstikes/grenades/launchers/torrets going in real time. Thats insane. And thats the ps3.

A bluray player only costs around 60 USD. It's not like games use them on the PC anyway.

If the PS3 can do it then that PC I listed can do it much better since it is 3-4 times more powerful.

MAG is nothing amazing if you want mazing then look at the 1700+ (unscripted) AI battle in Arma 2.

It has nice graphics, easily better than MAG and it's more complex.

Now that is amazing.
