    There are different forms of coal mining. The most popular seems to be strip mining with draglines and other heavy machinery. Not blowing the fuck out of mineshafts. Any explosives used underground are closely monitored.

    Miners getting stuck in a mine shaft can be caused by any number of things. A little rain outside is potentially enough to cause some sort of cave in.
