it still sounds like a restriction, and the way they word it makes absolutly no sense, if their aim was keeping power players in check and helping casuals and they really mean its a bonus instead of a restriction, it will do the polar opposite.

imo its just a really kiddy spin on an obvious penalty system for a game that you were supposed to pay monthly to play the way you want, with whatever class you decide for as long as you wish...ridiculous
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

    Currently Playing:
    - Guild Wars 2

    Waiting for:
    - Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade

Im still going to be playing regardless but.... im sure it will either be changed or removed completely when the reviews bring it up / critics complain / whiners keep going.

I like how people are calling the ones against it whiners when the restriction is just stupid. To make it not even weapon specific is just silly. Essentially they only want people playing for a max 17 hours a week

They're just trying to get everyone to try the other classes and crafting.
You'd think that, but in the article it clearly says:

However, experience points are not specific to any class and therefore the decrease in experience points is not affected by changing classes.

Basically, if the information we've been given is accurate, it would mean that out of a 720 hour month, we can only gain xp for 60 hours. It's also worth mentioning that only 32 hours of that would be normal xp.

With that math, it means that for 660 hours a month you can't gain xp.

again, I also feel it's worth mentioning that in the article it says:

"However, experience points are not specific to any class and therefore the decrease in experience points is not affected by changing classes."

That means that even if you change classes it doesn't matter. The limit is character based.

Now the confusing thing is, different sources are reporting different info. such as this article on Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5621786/final-fant...stem-explained) That claims that the limit is class-based.

    ^This

They should make a Pay By Hour System, if they want to "take care" of they're Players.

A lot of people are against it because they don't want to be restricted. People who pay for a game monthly don't want to be treated like they're 12. They're paying customers and they want what they paid for.

Final Fantasy XIV is going to be blown out of the water once Cataclysm comes out. Once Guild Wars 2 comes out, FFXIV is going to be a barren wasteland like FFXI. FFXIV had a chance but with this new system they implemented, their future isn't so bright. Quote me on it if you believe this to be true.

Can't say I've taken all that much interest in the game.

Eh, have to hope SE actually listens to their ****ing fanbase for once.

It says 8 hours and then your xp gain starts degrading. At another 7 hours you get 0 xp. Basically you get slightly above 1 hour per day of full xp gain.

So I'm kind of curious whats the max level for this game? 50? I really would say wait till the game is fully released before you guys ***** about something @_@...

Top of that, never did I see anything being mentioned about this game being a WoW killer o.o...where did people assume that?

eh.. id say 10 hours a week would be better. During school days I would be playing for 1-2 hours and weekends I would pump out with no remorse. I don't really care since If I can just switch and start the bonus again I dont see a problem. Promotes leveling of the different classes.

Didn't you hear? Every new large mmo to hit the markets is expected to be the WoW killer. Personally I don't care if that should ever happen, from my experience WoW wasn't even worth being beaten anyways.

I been playing since Beta 1 and I wouldnt mind this system, because there is so much to do

But on the dev beta players access only site~
Lots of threads on feedback has gone up about this issue~

I cant release any of it but there will be some changes somewhat after release~

Way to many people complaining about it~
    About 100+ pages for 1 thread~

Just wait until Open beta which is around Sep 10th and give it a go~
