I would say no but that is simply because the game as others said will steal your life. The last thing you need at the start of the school year is for that to happen.
9th grade is the first year at least in US where your grades will be official and be on display to colleges .

I suggest you do NOT get World of Warcraft, or any other kind of MMO that can distract you from "real life" while in High School, UNLESS you can find, or already have, a bunch of friends that also play WoW that go to your school. WoW, or any other MMORPG for that matter, can either help you keep your friends, or lose them. Some people are strong and are able to limit their time playing, but most are weak (well, really enjoy good things, anyways) and get sucked into the game to much and start neglecting friends, and will probably lose them.

Anyways. If you think it might cause you to neglect your homework/family/friends, you probably shouldn't get it.

There are hundreds of other games out there which are a 100x better investment than WoW.
Heck, even a candy bar is a better investment than WoW.

You can tell yourself to take it in portions, but it will eventually take over all spare time you have.

You people do realize that it is not the game that "steals" your life, but your own inability to control yourself? If you do not have the willpower to make yourself stand-up after 2-3 hours of gaming I am afraid you will have problems with all the MMO games out there, not only WoW. So people stop giving this bullshit about "destroy your life". Just stop being miserable and learn to control yourself.

Exactly this. People who tell you not to play WoW and that it will steal your soul are from players who have never played WoW and were never able to afford to play the game.

I've been playing it for 4 years and I'm in college, yet I do well in my classes, I study, and I do well on my midterms/finals. WoW isn't addictive. It's just like any other MMO that you play that you can enjoy. Most of the things you see and hear about "addicts" are all guild raiders. They're constantly online in the game, running instances, raids all day, on schedules, etc. It's like a 2nd job for some people. Usually that's what get people "addicted".

Just limit yourself to the hours you play daily, that's it.

It's probably the same with Guild Wars. There are people who play it all the time and they're addicted to it. And it'll be the same with Guild Wars 2! WoW just gets the flak because it's the most known.

Wow...no offense to some people but ruining your life? You have to have self control so you don't play it for hours and hours a day. So therefore i bought it and I'm playing it.

I've played WoW before, and I can gladly say I've never got addicted it. I never made it past level 30, and I only had one character. But just because you or I didn't get addicted to it, doesn't mean the OP won't. The reason we're warning him so much about how it's possible for him to get addicted to it is because he asked about it.

Some people can't just limit themselves. Maybe at first they can, but they'll start to slip. If the OP has a lot of free time, chances are he'll probably neglect some of his "real life" responsibilities to play WoW, or any other MMO. Maybe he already does it?

Also, like I said. WoW is addictive. And it's very accessible. The reason WoW gets all the 'flak' is because it's VERY well known, and is played by many. And a lot of the people that play WoW usually get a little to into the game. Some realize it, and start get out of the game, or quit, before it gets serious. Some may not like it all and wont get past level 30. Some may like it, play it a long time, and yet it wont affect their real life in any negative way. But some will get to into the game. And because WoW has a lot of people that play it, that 'some' is a huge number. It's a sad truth. WoW was developed to be very 'addicting', as in people will want to play it a lot. That's the mindset the devs had when they were making/as they have evolved the game. They were thinking, "How can we get people to play our game a lot, so we can get more subs, and sustain those subs?" It's just how it is.

Which is why I told the OP that if he plays WoW he can easily limit himself to play for a couple of hours a day through the time restriction section in his account options. In the end, it's all up to him, regardless if he takes the advice of those who tell him to play and those who tell him not to.

Any game you play you waste your time.

You just gotta have self control to not waste too much of your time.

Oh, I play games. None atm, unfortunately, because I can't find a good one, but I do.

Also, holy shit. 67 hours this WEEK? That's more time than you put in to a full time job.
