Is there a program that can compress a file of for example, 100mb, to 1mb?
I have seen it at some websites, but i forgotten...
[I have done my google search on this, but i found no information of it. Sigh]

Reputation: 19I hate to break it to you, but, fragmenting a file from 100mb to 1mb is impossible, but I do recommend WinRar
WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files
Thats the best I can do.
If I am wrong on the 100 to 1, please show me this program, because I want to read its code :P
Well, let me first explain what compression does.
Electronics communicate using 1s and 0s
So you can have a file that looks something like this:
101010111111100001010101000000000001010100101
A compression program will that that and turn it into
101010(1x7)(0x4)1010101(0x11)1010100101
Thats basicly what it does, so how much you can compress a file depends on the file itself.
Now, a good compression program that I use is winrar. Thats what I suggest. It has great results, and if you need you can have the archive split into sections.
Reputation: 19Hence why I said winrar, great at splitting. However Fabian, it does a little more then that.
A compression allows the other binary to work around it. But, I'm to drunk to explain it.
Eh, technical details I don't think the original poster would be too interested in.
Reputation: 19Yeah, I am going to learn a lot from you Fabian I swear. You taught me about the GDP and now reminded me about this, I gotta hang around you more :P
I think WinRaR is better because its more widely used than other compressors.
