Default The mass bannings are worrying.

Am i the only one worried about the mass bannings?
now mods hear me out, this isn't a jab at any one particular, but as a vast majority of all the mods.

Now what i was saying is, what's really stopping a mod from say banning people because he or she doesn't like them. we normal forum goers follow a strict set of rules(most of us do.) but do the mods actually have rules they have to follow?

this is a serious question, and not trolling, i truely want to know what rules the mods have to follow besides the standard ones.

We have a lot of troublesome members who are now gone.

Sandman even banned people. The worrying thing is the members, not staff.

i know, but i was just speaking metaphorically.

i'm truely curious what rules mods have to follow.

being a D&D player i learned "The DM is always right." This rule applies on forums and the like, but while the rules for D&D are printed clearly for all to see, the rules for the mods are not.

if you do not wish to share them with everyone, i will be happy to accept a pm.

The Hindenburg picture in Werewolf's sig really sets the tone for this.

What? Who else was banned recently? Other than TrueElements..

Oh. FullMetal was banned... and DMonster shortly, I am sure. Well, what else can you do? I'm sure you'll get over it, look at me, I still cry every time I log on, because Godyofwar is gone.

The other guys are... really no one I knew personally.

I'll miss Mime. Honestly though, this happens a lot, people get banned, people get butthurt, people calm down, in under 24 hours...

Mime is temp-banned. He'll be unbanned in a few days. It's not a big deal.

i've noticed that the two mods who posted in this thread seem to be dodging my question.

    I already answered it, werewolf.

Because, believe it or not, mods are actually dedicated to their job, which is keeping the forums clean and fun for everyone. That, and we're held to standards and a code of conduct. Banning people needlessly just because we don't like it is a bad image for Onrpg, will cause people to leave, and lose money for Spilgames.

When we care more about rules and regulations and keeping those who break them off the forum , more than how much they add to the community and the people on the forum benefit from having them around, regardless of if they're our friends or not, I feel we completely defeat the point of a forum entirely.

That's really all I have to say on the issue.

I legitely feel the same way. Other than Epickk(Because when you talk to him on xfire voice chat everything is funny) the others asked for it, but Mime at least was classy.

    Stay classy Mime.

    What a loaded statement.

No, Werewolf, we have a very explicit code of conduct to follow. I was just explaining why it wouldn't make sense for us not to have a CoC because it's a bad business strategy.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't twist my words around. Thanks.

I think he's asking what those are, not just if you have them.

He's curious about what stops a moderator from banning someone they don't like.

that's all i could gather from that statement, i'm not trying to be rude, i'm just trying to figure this out.

you stated "we follow a code of conduct, as to not lose money for Spilgames" that's a summery of what i gathered from your previous statement. i'm not being a dick. i honestly respect you xeno, you are a pretty cool guy, you play planescape and doesn't afraid of anything.

may i ask what these code of conducts are?

I'm just glad you're actually monitoring the forums unlike most forums/games.

It's mainly in place to keep certain problems from arising in regards to interactions between staff and members.

It is actually there to protect the members, and back when we were having major squabbles between members and staff I felt it was necessary to make sure that the staff stay above the rage and do what they were brought on to do.

Just gonna say this: the first code of conduct rule gets broken a lot.

Not pointing out who, just saying.

Mods aren't petty enough to ban people for no reason. It's seriously not that hard to follow the rules.

I do raise my eyebrow a little bit at the "Respect" and "Bias" portions of that conduct code though...

I have a question I could care less what the mods do just wanna ask this.
What exactly deserves a warning and what deserves a infraction I'm so confused on this.
