Default vindictus hosted by nexonNA good or bad?

anyone got any opinions, i hope they do a better job with this then they did with "DFO" also i wonder how bad the cash shop is going to be

side note i hope they leave in the korean voice acting or at least have an option to choose between english or korean cause i have a deep burning hatred for english dubs

Nexon is doing an okay job with DFO at the moment, minus a few recent hiccups..

Game content is being released pretty quickly, next patch being this Tuesday (Tower of Death + pets/the introduction of the priest patch soon) and the cash shop is not overpowered in any way, since you can buy avatars with in-game gold (and boy is there a huge market for that).
There's pretty much nothing in the cash shop that is "mandatory", since for storage you could create multiple mules, or just do a quick NX survey, buy a safe slot upgrade, and voila.

Gathering from that, I'm expecting Nexon to do a good job with hosting Vindictus.

Nexon never screwed up DFO everybody had this picture perfect plan of it.
The only thing that was bad were the rates and thankfully they fixed it.

    1) Voice acting is dubbed into english. If you had any hopes of having an option to switch between the original npc/character voices and the english version, you are out of luck.

    2) Cash shop will be the same as korean version unless Nexon NA plans to bomb the game on western market: Fashion aesthetics (hair, tattoos, underwear), Premium Dungeon Tokens, and Goddess Service (able to self-res unlimited times even after the level 5-mark)

yeah the beginning was rough the rates made me want to cry cause i was thinking i could finally play a game where i didn't have to grind so much but they had the exp required to level way higher

i guess all the problems i have with it are just cause too many people have to much good gear and the priest patch still isn't but soon hopefully

(pvp was fun when the game came out now its all serious business and avatars and +12 gear)

edit cause above post:darn it i hate english "voice acting" they don't even deserve to be called "voice actors" makes me want to puke whatever ill have to endure it.....im so disapointed

Nexon didnt screw up DFO. In fact.... all of their games so far are doing very well.

I expect no less with vindictus. To be honest I dont trust any other F2P company than nexon to host alot of these games.

wow the korean voice acting is so good, its a even bigger let down

well maybe if i beg on the nexon forums they will add the option to change though i doubt it

the english voices are better then most the stuff they try to pass off as "english voice acting" but its still sub par by a mile, but at least they tried to match the voices to the way characters looked and not all of them are bad

i mean the have freakin subs built into the game GRRR

Maybe the sound files have the same filename, just different content? Might be able to just jack the voice files from the Korean client and overwrite the English ones so it would be undubbed.

I'll have to try it after playing the game for a bit. If not I can live with the English ones, they aren't too bad.

Edit: Can anyone who has the Korean client tell me if the files are raw i.e. flat out .wav files for sounds and voices or does it use .dat files for client resource management?

Why would I want to hear a language I can't understand? I'd rather have subpar English than Korean which I can't understand any day.

You can't compare english to korean or japanese or anything like that.

Why? Because the English voice actors were at least trying to sound middle agesish, whereas the koreans? Who caresm just say the lines?

Also yeah, I'd rather have English over Korean, Japanese, etc.

Weeabo comments can kindly GTFO D:< Or if you can't stand english voices that much, give your accounts/keys to people who don't give a crap :P

as the game is heavily inspired by gaelic legends, that would make sense if the actors were scotts or irish actors.

It's not about not being able to stand it as much as having a preference over something. That's like saying if you prefer hamburgers over hot dogs that you cant stand hot dogs. I would rather have Korean, Japanese over English mainly just I hear English everyday, it's nice to hear something new once in a while.

    Indeed it would.

By the way, irish/gaelic stories are the best.

Yeah, the U.S. and Canada only. Nexon EU is having it's closed beta for Vindictus either this later this year or early next. Just keep your eyes out for it.

don't bother...I already tried many attempts on trying to change the voice acting and failed. The sound folder files are the exact copy of Vindictus sound folder. But like you said, the voices alone seem to use .dat files. Nexon decided to separate background/theme music from actual character/npc voices for some reason. I tried replacing the .dat files between Mabinogi: Heroes and Vindictus folder....no luck. At one point I had to reinstall both clients because they were beyond repair lol

True, but I can extract all the files from the .dat files and replace them with the renamed (or not) files from the korean version and recompile it. The only problem would be if the patcher does a crc check on the files.
