lol, people complaining about a cash shop selling aditional comsetic items...

This is ******ed. Imagine going back to the PSX era. If you bought a game back then, that was it. No additional content at all, period, and you would have to wait for another game, or for a sequal if you wanted more gameplay. In any case, if you wanted anything more you'd have to pay for it. Nothings changed at all.

Why shouldn't people why pay more get more content?
This makes no sense at all. It's like saying people who pay more at a restaurant shouldn't get more food than people who don't.

I'm sick and tired of gamers complaining about this and that as if having games catered to them is a right, because it isn't. Games are products. Gamers don't have shit, period.
If I make the shittiest game ever and charge 1000$ for it, then that's my right.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Stop acting like gaming companies somehow owe it to you to make games according to your personal preferances.

Yeah last time I checked this company isnt going bankrupt anytime soon. I'm sure they can live off the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS that they're going to get from selling the game.

Yeah because a company's expenses is just about server and production costs... Noooooot.

Large companies expenses also consist of wagers to all their employees, the cost of location, tools, marketing, logistics, insurance, taxation, and it also needs money put aside to fund new projects, and a security pool to prevent the company from going bankrupt if a heavily invested project should fail.

This does not inlcude any potential income they make of their projects which would be their entire motivation for making games to begin with.

I.E, for a company even to consider making a game, they need to know that what they make of the product is enough to provide stable growth of the company economy by not only covering their basic needs, but also ensuring at least a marginal profit. If there isn't, there is no incentive to start a project.

To assume, or to expect, large companies that are extremely difficult and costly to run, to invest in large game projects without making a large amount of profit is naive, and shows an ignorance about matters of economics.

Sounds fine to me, as long as it doesn't screw up the game for others. All this yapping is just whining to my ears. It's really just speculation, there is nothing to show that they're going to destroy the game they have with a cash shop.

Also, I scoff at the people drawing parallels to F2P games with cash shops, pathetic. Have they never paid for a game in their life? You'd have to be blind to not see the difference in quality between a tight budgeted, cookie-cutter F2P MMO and an well developed MMO by a development team that actually spends resources to make it of respectable quality.

it might be because i dont play allot of f2p games but i dont know any games which only sell cosmetic items to be honest... they all come with XP %potions, item drop potions, resurrect scrolls, temp stat buffs, pets that attack and all that other crap which makes me hate cash shops lol.. if they add all those things aswell i rather pay a monthly sub knowing everyone is equal cause most cash shops end up beeing a bigger money sink then a simple subscription.

edit: note im only talking about cash shops in general here, not the game gw2 which i dont know anything about. not planning to get hyped for it yet either untill its released and when received enough positive reactions + playerbase otherwise it will just be shut down like ncsoft does with most of their games if they see they start losing population...

Well as long as it's nothing game breaking, I am fine with it. Cosmetic, unlocking skills (if you can unlock them by playing aswell), even exp-boosters (as far as I know, the leveling is supposed to be constant time thruout the game), different looking pets, but not any better than one you can obtain from game. But if you actually have to pay for items, that prevent breaking / level down from enchanting or maybe for new dungeons/raids, or higher level hp potions, which are usable in pvp... I might have second thoughts about getting the game.

Well, for an example of a good cash shop, there's the GW1 cash shop. All it sells are the exspansions, bonus mission pack (which consists of 4 missions that give you access some unmodded weapon skins, nothing more). Extra storage, which I myself have never even needed to buy, character make overs, full body costumes that do nothing but stack on top of your current armor giving you a different look, no stat benefits or anything.

Finally, there are the skill unlocks. But these only work for PVP characters if I remember correctly.

So yeah, after GW1, I'm hardly gonnna go all doom and gloom over what we know about the GW2 shop so far.

I seriously hope the people who aren't okay with this cosmetic cash shop wouldn't consider playing the game. I mean it really sucks and it's full of shit right? So I guess it's not worth playing?

Cough,cough..No big deal right? LOL
do u realize even after u pay 60$ for the game, WOW still charges a monthly fee, meaning u HAVE TO PAY to continue playing, but u don't have to pay for the GW cashshop. Essentially, WOW is B2P+P2P+CashShop. if no1 is complaining about WOW, y complain on GW.

    If you haven't seen it

The feature of transmutation stones being cash-shop exclusive rubs me abit but because it's a strictly cosmetic thing I think I'll live without it, or give in and pay for 'em.

Still, my faith in this game and it's creators have not swayed one bit and it won't unless they decide to screw over anything they announced so far

after what being said in that article, I do hope they do make it obtainable out of cashshop also, with some work of course.
