    Default Another PC Building Thread

hi, sorry to make yet another one of these, but my question is reasonably specific, game-wise and I'd rather get a personalized answer than look up other threads and maybe make a mistake.

what would you say would be the ideal build (around 1,000 dollars Canadian)

canadians pay slightly more for parts fyi, exchange rate is about identical, but then there are import costs and stuff I guess... last I checked newegg anyway, newegg.ca definitely charges more.

if I wanted to run Mass Effect 2 and Napoleon Total War on fairly high settings?

or is that kind of not possible?

oh also I already have a keyboard, monitor, possibly a dvd drive (can I just take my old laptop drive and put it in a computer?), and a mouse (lol) so those don't factor into the cost. Neither do speakers.

    thanks in advance :]

edit: not sure if normal American newegg ships here btw, there is a newegg.ca though, which I imagine I'd be using.

That is kind of low. But even with a monitor added to the cost you can get a good PC that can max out the games you listed.

Do you need help putting together a list of parts?

interesting. I feel like there's this sort of unspoken thing out there among the pc gaming elite that if your pc isn't some quad-core monster that cost like 3 thousand dollars you're DOING IT WRONG. nice to know that that's not necessarily true.

I still don't see any difference between 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 on starcraft 2 and metro 2033 other than a signifigcant drop of frame rates!! >=O . maybe its just my monitor.
