You need to put the CD in before booting your computer, meaning you boot to the CD, not the hard drive. You can't install XP over Windows 7, you must reformat.

If the CD doesn't boot, you will have to change the boot order in your BIOS.

The Windows XP disk will reformat your hard drive for you.

Your disk isn't booting because the boot order is currently set to your hard drive, you need to enter the BIOS (achieved by hammering a key as you switch on your PC, usually Delete, F2 or F8) and looking for the boot order menu. Look at your manual if you can't find it. Make sure it boots from your CD drive first and Windows XP Setup will start.

be careful when reformatting your PC though.. unless you know what you are doing with your drivers.

You may not have sound, internet ect..

When i format i have to install internet drivers sound drivers.

    Just letting ya know
